Kraken FC quickly rose through the ranks of the Hong Kong football league system. In their first season, the team won the Hong Kong Fourth Division League. The following season, the team won the Hong Kong Third Division League and were promoted to the Hong Kong Second Division League.
Kraken FC made their debut in the Hong Kong Second Division League in the 2017-18 season. The team finished the season in 7th place, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Hong Kong First Division League.
