Liverpool Football Club is a professional football club based in Liverpool, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. Founded in 1892, the club joined the Football League the following year and has played its home games at Anfield since its formation.

History
Liverpool was founded in 1892 by the merger of two local clubs, Everton and St. Domingo's. The club's first home ground was Anfield Road, which it shared with Everton until 1894. Liverpool won its first league title in 1901 and its first FA Cup in 1906.
The club's most successful period came in the 1970s and 1980s, when it won 11 league titles, four European Cups and three UEFA Cups. The team was managed by Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and Kenny Dalglish during this period.
Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League in 2005 and 2019. The club's most recent league title came in 2020.
