Lighthouse Athletic FC Values

The Club code of conduct.

General Conduct

We’re all grown-ups and we expect each of you to conduct yourselves as such when you are representing the team on a match day.

One of the fundamental principles of this team is sportsmanship and team spirit, so whether we are on or off the pitch, in training or together in a social setting, speak positively to your team mates, the management, the opposition and the referee. Be encouraging and constructive.

Club Commitment

We have been very fortunate to have a very competitively priced and good quality pitch at Norman Chamberlain; however it does mean that every player will be asked to arrive early to help put up the goal nets, as well as make sure the changing rooms are left tidy. Everyone will be asked to do this at some stage so we would appreciate your support in this.

Subs will be collected before each training session or game. It is not our job to chase you for money, but an obligation by you to come to us and pay what you owe. Monies owed to the club are at the bottom of this page. An opportunity will be made for players to pay monthly if desired. Any player owing monies will not be considered for selection.

Feel free to invite friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to come along and watch us on match days. They will be made welcome and looked after.

We are a non-profit organisation and all of our account details are available to view by appointment. Please feel free to ask any of the management team questions regarding the clubs finances.

If you require any further insurance over and above the clubs basic package, please feel free to make your own arrangements.

Team Selection

We understand from time to time illness, holidays, and work commitments and other activities will get in the way of your availability for selection but please try and let the management know with as much prior warning as possible if you are going to miss training or a game.

We will therefore be naming 16 players on the club website a day or two before the game (www.teamstats.net/lighthouseathleticfc). If you have got no access to the internet then contact your manager who will tell you if you are in the team for that week. Again if you are selected and cannot make the game for whatever reason then contact management as soon as possible. It is not enough to tell someone else to tell us, you must take responsibility yourself.

We would be delighted to have the support of players who haven’t made the squad for every game. Though for away games the above statement applies only if we have enough vehicles.

It is absolutely essential that you understand that we have a strong group of players at this club, and there will be occasions this season when you will get the opportunity to play – but there will also be times when you might not make the squad.

Players will be selected based on ability, fitness, tactical decisions and commitment. Football is a demanding game and 90 minutes can take its toll on the unprepared! So make the effort to keep yourself in a reasonable state of fitness. We will have the possibility of well over 24 games this season so will need a committed ‘squad’ of players.

If you are not selected for the squad on match days, please try and be supportive, and work hard during training to show your abilities.

Should you have a grievance regarding team selection or tactics, feel free to air those views in private with the manager.

Game Time

We expect you to give maximum effort and strive for your best possible performance during a fixture, whatever the current status of that game and to set a positive example to others, particularly younger players. It is your responsibility to arrive at training and matches on time, and with all necessary equipment.

Please do not swear during games, (you will be sent off), we also want to create an environment where families and children can come and enjoy watching the games. We cannot control the opposition but we can set an example for them.

Violence and ill-discipline will not be tolerated during games and if the referee has not already disciplined players the Lighthouse Athletic management will substitute offending players immediately. In the event of any disciplinary action taken by the league, for example a booking or sending off the player(s) in question will be expected to pay the full cost of any fine imposed by the league. Further disciplinary action may be taken against the players in question if the club management deem it appropriate. When the club secretary receives the paperwork for the fine players must pay the fine in full before the next fixture. Non-payment will result in the player being omitted from the squad until the fine is paid in full.

We expect every player at the end of the game to thank both their opposite number and the referee. We’re all men so shake the hands of the opposition and your team mates. Referee’s come to enjoy the games too and they will not knowingly make decisions against a fair team. Look after the referee and he will treat you fairly. If you disagree with any decision tell the referee politely, once, then move on.

Abuse and other unsportsmanlike behaviour will not be looked upon favourably in this team. Let’s avoid gamesmanship and time wasting no matter what the result.

Please abide by the instructions of the manager and management team at all times and furthermore abide by the laws, rules and spirit of the game.

Please do not put negative comments about the team or league on social media sites i.e facebook, twitter, etc

If the above rules and comments are not adhered to, your position in the team and future involvement with Lighthouse Athletic FC will be in jeopardy after a first warning or in some instances immediately.

We are really excited about the forthcoming season in Division 3 and look forward to a competitive and enjoyable season together.
