Long Stratton Vipers was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The team initially played in the Hucknall and District League, before moving to the Nottinghamshire Senior League in 1978.
The Vipers enjoyed their most successful period in the early 1990s, when they won the Nottinghamshire Senior League championship in 1985-86, 1992-93, and 2000-01. They also won the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup in 1986 and 1993.
The Vipers have struggled in recent years, and they currently play in the Nottinghamshire Senior League Division One. However, the team is hoping to return to the top flight of Nottinghamshire football in the near future.
