History
Ninetyone FC was founded in 2016 by a group of football enthusiasts who wanted to create a team that would represent the city of Kuala Lumpur in the MPL. The team's name is derived from the fact that it was founded in the year 2016, which is also the year that Malaysia celebrated its 91st anniversary of independence.
The team's first season in the MPL was in 2017. They finished the season in 10th place, just outside of the relegation zone. In the 2018 season, the team finished in 7th place, their highest finish to date.
