Omonia Nicosia is a Cypriot professional football club based in Nicosia. The club was founded on 4 June 1948 and has played in the Cypriot First Division since 1953. Omonia is the most successful club in Cyprus, having won 21 league titles, 16 cups, and 17 Super Cups. The club has also competed in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
History
- Omonia was founded in 1948 by a group of Greek Cypriots who wanted to create a club that would represent the entire community. The club's name is derived from the Greek word for "unity".
- Omonia won its first league title in 1960 and has since gone on to win 20 more. The club has also won the Cypriot Cup 16 times and the Super Cup 17 times.
- Omonia has competed in the UEFA Champions League on three occasions, most recently in 2017-18. The club has also competed in the UEFA Europa League on 13 occasions and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup on two occasions.
- Omonia's most famous player is Michalis Konstantinou, who is considered to be one of the greatest Cypriot footballers of all time. Konstantinou played for Omonia for 14 years and helped the club win 10 league titles and 6 cups.
