OZ Bavegem is a Belgian football club from the town of Vlierzele, East Flanders. The club was founded in 1931 and currently plays in the Belgian Second Amateur Division.
History
OZ Bavegem was founded in 1931 as a merger between two local clubs, FC Vlierzele and FC Bavegem. The club quickly rose through the ranks of the Belgian football pyramid, reaching the Belgian Third Division in 1938. OZ Bavegem spent the next 20 years in the Third Division, with a brief spell in the Second Division in 1951-52.
In the 1970s, OZ Bavegem began to decline, and was relegated to the Belgian Provincial Leagues in 1977. The club spent the next 20 years in the Provincial Leagues, with a brief spell back in the Third Division in 1991-92.
In the 2000s, OZ Bavegem began to rebuild, and was promoted back to the Belgian Third Division in 2007. The club has since established itself in the Third Division, and is currently competing in the Belgian Second Amateur Division.
Stadium
OZ Bavegem plays its home matches at the Gemeentelijk Sportstadion Vlierzele. The stadium has a capacity of 2,000 spectators.
