History
Penybont Athletic was formed in 2013 following the merger of Bridgend Town and Bryntirion Athletic. The club's first season was in the Welsh Football League Division One, which they finished in third place. In the 2014-15 season, Penybont finished in fifth place in Division One and applied for a Football Association of Wales Domestic License for the Cymru Premier. The club was granted the license and began playing in the Cymru Premier in the 2015-16 season.
Penybont has finished in the top half of the Cymru Premier table in each of their seasons in the league. In the 2022-23 season, the club finished in third place, qualifying for the Europa Conference League.
Stadium
Penybont Athletic plays its home games at Bryntirion Park, which is also known as The SDM Glass Stadium for sponsorship reasons. The stadium has a capacity of 1,500.
