History

TuS Maccabi Düsseldorf was founded in 1907 by a group of Jewish footballers. The club's name is a combination of the German words "Turn- und Sportverein" (gymnastics and sports club) and the Hebrew word "Maccabi", which refers to the ancient Jewish warriors.

The club's early years were spent in the lower leagues of German football. However, in the 1920s, TuS Maccabi Düsseldorf enjoyed a period of success, reaching the Gauliga Niederrhein, the highest tier of football in the region.

The club's fortunes declined after the Second World War, and they were forced to start over in the lower leagues. However, TuS Maccabi Düsseldorf have since rebuilt, and they now compete in the Kreisliga A Niederrhein.
