The school has many links with clubs and organisations who can provide opportunities outside of Wilson’s as well as a team of highly qualified staff with great expertise in one or more areas. In addition, many external coaches are used in games blocks to ensure a high quality delivery of the subject. Wilson’s has extensive facilities in a refurbished sports hall, provided with all the equipment necessary, including indoor cricket nets and bowling machine, a gym / table-tennis hall with climbing wall and an area for judo.

The outside facilities include:

12 rubber crumb 5-a-side astroturf pitches and a larger 8-a-side pitch 6 outdoor cricket nets 4 football pitches 1 rugby pitch 2 cricket squares Grid areas for training

There are also a number of sports clubs and facilities local to the school which are used during games afternoons.

There are inter-house competitions in which all boys take part, not just the top performers. Wilson’s boys take part in district, county and national competitions, often reaching the final rounds; they have won a number of national titles. Extra-curricular sport takes place evenings and weekends throughout the year; the sports fields are always busy.

Wilson’s School values sport very highly, especially since all the boys have a chance to find an area in which they can develop their individual abilities.
