Introduction

The Colchester & District Youth Football League (C&D) is an amateur football league for young players in north Essex and the surrounding areas. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 clubs affiliated to it.

The league operates a variety of divisions for different age groups, from Under-7s to Under-18s. There are also a number of cup competitions, including the C&D Cup, the Junior Cup and the Challenge Trophy.

The C&D is a popular league with a strong reputation for developing young players. Many former players of the league have gone on to play professional football, including former Colchester United players such as Karl Duguid and Mark Phillips.

Structure

The C&D is divided into a number of divisions, each of which is further subdivided into leagues. The number of divisions and leagues varies depending on the age group.

The Under-7s and Under-8s divisions are single-league formats, while the Under-9s to Under-18s divisions are split into two leagues each.

The top division in each age group is the Premier Division, followed by the Division One, Division Two and so on.

  • The C&D Cup: This is the league's premier cup competition and is open to all clubs in the league.
  • The Junior Cup: This is a cup competition for Under-14s and Under-15s teams.
