Introduction

The "League" is an amateur football league in the United Kingdom. It is the highest level of amateur football in the country, and is organized by the Amateur Football Alliance (AFA). The league consists of 24 teams, divided into two divisions of 12 teams each. The teams play each other twice, once at home and once away, for a total of 22 games each season.

The "League" was founded in 1905, and is one of the oldest amateur football leagues in the world. The current champions are AFC Wellingborough, who won the league in the 2022-23 season.

History

The "League" was founded in 1905 by a group of amateur football clubs in the United Kingdom. The original name of the league was the "Amateur Football Association League", but it was renamed to the "League" in 1920.

The "League" has been played at a number of different levels over the years. In the early days, the league was the highest level of amateur football in the country. However, the introduction of the professional Football League in 1888 saw the "League" become the second tier of amateur football.

The current season of the "League" is the 2023-24 season. The National League is currently being led by Gresley Rovers, while the Regional League is currently being led by Eastbourne United.
