Introduction

Liga 1|2|3 is an amateur football league in Switzerland. It is the third tier of the Swiss football league system, below the Swiss Challenge League and the Swiss Super League.

The league was founded in 1994 and is currently composed of 120 teams divided into 4 regional groups. The top two teams in each group are promoted to the Swiss Challenge League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the 2. Liga interregional.

The league is governed by the Swiss Football Association (SFV). The current champions are FC Köniz.

History

Liga 1|2|3 was founded in 1994 as the third tier of the Swiss football league system. It replaced the Nationalliga B, which was disbanded at the end of the 1993–94 season.

The league was initially composed of 100 teams divided into 4 regional groups. The top two teams in each group were promoted to the Swiss Super League, while the bottom two teams were relegated to the 2. Liga interregional.

In 2003, the league was expanded to 120 teams. The number of regional groups was also increased to 5.

Format

Liga 1|2|3 is a league consisting of 120 teams divided into 4 regional groups. The teams play each other twice, once at home and once away.

Liga 1|2|3 coaches

The top two teams in each group are promoted to the Swiss Challenge League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the 2. Liga interregional.

The teams that finish third and fourth in each group enter a playoff to determine the final two teams promoted to the Swiss Challenge League.
