Introduction

The Sasa League is an amateur football league in Ghana. It was founded in 1967 and is currently the oldest and largest amateur football league in the country.

The league is divided into two divisions, the Premier Division and the First Division. The Premier Division consists of 16 teams, while the First Division consists of 12 teams.

The season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other team twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in the Premier Division at the end of the season are promoted to the Ghana Premier League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the First Division.

The Sasa League is a popular competition in Ghana and attracts a large number of spectators. The league is also a breeding ground for young talent, with many players who have gone on to play in the Ghana Premier League and the national team having started their careers in the Sasa League.

History

The Sasa League was founded in 1967 by a group of football enthusiasts in Accra. The league was originally called the Accra Amateur Football League, but it was renamed the Sasa League in 1970.
