The Southampton Cup

The league was founded in 1921 and currently has 20 teams competing in a single division. The teams are drawn from across the city of Southampton and the surrounding area.

The season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other once. The top team at the end of the season is crowned champions.

History

The Southampton Cup was founded in 1921 by the SFDA. The inaugural season was won by Bitterne Gate.

The league has been won by a variety of clubs over the years, including Bitterne Gate, Sholing, Totton & Eling, and Eastleigh.

The current champions are Alderbury, who won the title in 2022-23.

Format

The Southampton Cup is a single-division league. Each team plays each other once, with the top team at the end of the season being crowned champions.

There is no promotion or relegation from the league.

Cup competitions

In addition to the league, the SFDA also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Southampton Senior Cup, the Southampton Junior Cup, and the Southampton Veterans Cup.

The Southampton Senior Cup is the most prestigious cup competition in the SFDA. It is open to all teams in the SFDA.

The Southampton Junior Cup is open to teams in the lower divisions of the SFDA.

The Southampton Veterans Cup is open to teams of players over the age of 35.
