Away league match played on 13 September 2020.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Following our first win in division 2 last week, this week was going to be no easy task playing last years division 1 side Allestree.

As the whistle blew it was clear to see they were a good side and sure enough, through a defensive error they were to 1-0 up. A disappointing start but we are the new and improved Chellaston so anything can happen and happen it did.....

A bobble is the box and the ball came to Arjen who Cooley slotted it home. It was a close game which on paper it was always going to be but in my opinion, Chellaston looked the more composed team so at 1-1, I think the result looked fair.

We weren’t done there though, Karsen was now on the pitch and he was hungry for goals, chasing down everything it was a classy performance so when the keeper kicked the ball out loosely, Karsen was on hand to smash it home. 2-1 to chellaston and that is how the first half would finish.

Although a throughly entertaining game, we went into half time feeling there was more to come from us. I didn’t feel we were getting the rub of the green and Kailem was unlucky not to have had a hat trick at this point so this was relayed to the lads and when the second half started, for me there was only going to be one winner.....

So with Karsen on the score sheet, his mate Fin was bound to step up a gear with the 2 lads having a great rivalry so after a great through ball form Jeevan, Fin nicely tapped the ball over the keeper and slotted it home, 3-1.

But the boys were hungry for more and rightly so, the chances were being created from a fantastic midfield performance and the score could so easily have been more so when Fin slotted a lovely through ball for Karsen to chase, it was only going in one place, the back of the net. Great to see last years joint two highest goal scorers bringing the same partnership together this year. 4-1 to chellaston.

Tempers were starting to flair with Allestree getting frustrated with being dominated but there frustrations were about to get worsened when Archie would set up Jayden and after an absolutely fantastic strike, the match would end with the score at 5-1 to Chellaston.

Clearly a fantastic result against a very good Allestree team, a result which on a different day, I’m sure could have been won by a significantly higher number !

Notable performances go to Karsen, 2 goals and some fantastic back tracking playing in a variety of positions, the whole of the defence, dependable as we are becoming accustomed to, our stand in keeper Will who gave a great performance helping the team out once again when in need, Kailem who tried and tried and on another day, would have got a hat full but there could only be one man of the match winner for both Brendan and I today..... Jayden.

An absolutely fantastic individual performance in the middle. He was getting battered from start to finish with the opposition clearly knowing he was the danger man of the day. He kept his cool, never faulted and when he scored the worldy at the end, I couldn’t of been happier for him. A goal that the performance thoroughly deserved.

So after our first two wins of this season having scored 10 and conceded only 3 !!, next week we play our old rivals from division 3, Heanor. Always a tasty match this one and one I know Brendan, Rob and myself always look forward to.

So early night next Saturday and on we go, let’s keep these wins coming and give the rest of the league something to think about ! ??????
