Away league match played on 22 February 2014.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

This was our first competitive match for 3 months due to the winter break and weather conditions calling off a number of matches and it was back to league business with a tricky fixture against one of our challengers for the league title Clarks Cowboys who had beaten us in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season. The gaffer went with our usual 3-1-4-2 formation to start the game with Cammy McGregor making his debut and it was to be an eventful debut at that.

In the early exchanges it was clear that we hadn’t played a competitive match since the middle of November as we were put under a bit of pressure in the opening ten minutes. The defence held up well to this early pressure though and we gradually started to get our foot on the ball, and opened the scoring just after the 15minute mark when Cammy scored with a brilliant right footed strike from the edge of the box. Soon after it was 2-0 when after some great fighting from Liam Milne on the edge of the box he won the ball and played in Marc Mitchell who coolly slotted the ball past the keeper and into the net. We were now starting to dominate the game and had a couple of decent chances before getting the third when Mitch got his second of the game with a header as he got on the end of Ryan’s great in swinging corner. Cammy then got his second of the game with another great strike into the top corner, it looked as if he meant it but he was too honest in admitting it was actually meant to be a cross to the back post.

HT 0-4

Early in the second half Cammy scored again to complete his hat-trick as he raced onto Mitch’s through ball to score into the bottom left corner. It was looking like being the perfect debut for Cammy with a hat-trick and a certain man of the match award on the cards but a couple of silly mistakes cost him as he was first booked for a kick out at one their players then a few minutes later a deliberate hand ball in the box resulted in a second yellow card. Cowboys pulled one back from the resulting penalty. We restored the five goal lead soon after though when Jack got on the end of Craig’s cross to score. In the dying minutes we conceded a soft goal as they scored with a free header from a corner kick.

FT 2-6
