afc putney had to play a double header after an 8 week lay off due to bad weather and poor pitches.
first game 2-2
there opponents were 2nd in the league battersea park rangers. from the kick off afc putney had no signs of rustyness they took the game straight to BPR with constent high pitch pressuring and one touch football at times BPR couldnt live with the passing and moving that putney was playing.
putney took the lead 1-0 but had so many chances to make it , 2,3,4,5,6,7but BPR amazing shot stopper was on his job making so many amazing saves.
1-0 at half time and 15 minutes in to the BPR took an astonsishing 2-1 lead totally against the run of play but have to give them credit for taking there chances and scoring 2 great goals, putney did not give up with not stop running from anthony adoo, trickery from daniel smith and bossing the midfield from dean latchman and dean thomas there was always gonna be chances.last 4 minutes of the game adoo drawed a foul right on the edge of the area which lishmud stepped up and hit the cross bar which alfie smith followed up on the re-bound and claimed a vital point
even though the game was 2-2 afc putneys defence was well leaded by there vice captain and new signing jordan mc carthy
2nd game 5-1
at the interval the gaffer just told the boys to stick at there jobs and carry on what they were doing as the goals will come and BPR will get tired.
And so they did from the off but BPR could handle the changes that were made with danny v going to his main posistion right mid, anthony adoo playing out wide left and smith uptop gave putney a great balance with the defence having so much of the ball controlling and knocking the ball around with centre midfielder liam bennett playing left back seeing loads of the ball pulling the strings .
after all the posseion the man in form adoo curled the ball round the diving keeper to make it 1-0 and not long after adoo made it 2 with a great left foot volley finish . not to mention that dean thomas was having a great game in CM by bossing the game winning headers feeding the ball to the playmaker zico richards who has been out for a while but can see he is coming back to his best .
BPR made it 2-1 in the 2nd half again against the run of the play but there was noo hiccups in this game with putney adding the 3,4 and 5th goal to win the game
would like to say the likes of joel chico ,zico richards great performace yesterday boys .
