Home league match played on 12 April 2009.
Kicked off at 10:45 AM

After being dragged through the dirt at a recent League meeting and being fined heavilly and points docked, all the nightmares of previous seasons that blighted Boythorpe in the past, raised thier heads again. And although it was a battling performance by the Blues thier minds were certainly NOT on the game.

Boythorpe took 3 mins to produce thier first real chance when a long ball over the top sent Bonson racing clear, but the visitors keeper smothered his effort. Within a minute from the long clearance Potter fumbled the effort but the ball was cleared. Boythorpe thought they had took the lead on 9 mins as Walton forced the keeper to push a rasping 25 yarder wide. Ace of Clubs took the lead in the 11th minute somewhat against the run of play.

Play was held up on the quater hour when Lee Walton chased an enourmous clearance by Potter and accidentally clashed with the keeper who had to recieve lengthy treatment. chances fell to both sides but the defenders held the upper hand until Boythorpe equlized 0n the 33rd minute after a brilliant team move down the right wing sent  Lee Wright free into the corner, he worked his way into the area on the by-line and fired a low cross into the box which the unfortunate defender turned into his own net for 1-1.

This jolted the Blues back into action for a while who won a series of corners but failed to take advantage although AoC had to substitute the keeper who had clearly not recovered from the clash. Ace Of Clubs took the lead again on 43 minutes when Haddon was unlucky to slip and was robbed of the ball, the winger put over a cross that Potter tipped onto the bar, but the ball fell into the path of the forward just 3 yards out and he rolled the chance in. Within a minute Boythorpe had a great chance to bring the scores level when Wright found Bonson with a clever flick, but the winger tried to bust the net with his effort instead of placing the ball and put the chance wide.  HALF TIME  Boythorpe...1 Ace Of Clubs...2

Within 3 mins things got worse for Boythorpe when AoC won a free kick 22 yards out in a very central position. Although Potter set up his wall well the striker bent a lovley free kick into the top corner. for the next few mins Boythorpe became exasperated by the ammount of free kicks AoC won in dangerous positions when themselves didnt seem to be awarded anything.3 became 4 just after the hour when a hacked attempted clearance went into the area and Potter picked the ball up only to be pulled up for a back pass. From the resulting free kick a scramble ensued and the ball struck the unlucky Higginbottom and went into his own net. Things got worse as Whitehead felt he had been kicked in the melee and his arguments earned him a straight RED CARD.

Boythorpe then reshuffled and pulled a goal back within minutes when a Kev Widerman corner was met with a superb leap and header by man of the match BONSON who never stopped all game. Boythorpe plugged away manfully but being a man down, kicking uphill and not having the rub of the green with any decisions it turned out to be just a bridge too far.  FINAL SCORE   Boythorpe...2  Ace Of Clubs...4
