BRITANNIA F.C...1 RENISHAW M.W...2

Britannia's fine 13 consecutive Legue game winning run came to an end, at Somersall Park on sunday. On a bumpy, rock hard pitch, despite overnight rain Britannia started well kicking down hill, but it was Renishaw who had the first real chance, a ball put in to the back post was well cleared off the line by Whitehead. Megyesi then fired wide at the other end when well placed. On the quater hour Mitchell should have done better with a firm header, when a Shane Bennett free kick picked him out in the box.

The visitors were thwarted soon after by Furniss after a flicked on header caught the Brits defence flat footed. The impressive Danny Brown went close on 25 mins after being played through by Goodwin, but the keeper saved well. Higginbottom was cautioned on 33 mins giving away a needless free kick 20 yards out, and Furniss had to be at his best almost being caught out setting up his wall, but his concentration was top notch, and he made a fine save. Renishaw evened up the card count on 36 mins, when Shane Bennetts smart footwork left the visitors midfielder floundering on the deck, and found himself punished for handling the ball. Things blew up a little on 38 mins when a player from each side was cautioned after a tussle. HALF TIME Britannia F.C..0 Renishaw M.W..0

Manager Benny was bouyed up by the first half performance, and after a bit of re-jigging taking off Higginbottom and bringing on Scott Bennett saw the move bring instant reward when a throw by Shane Bennett picked out Walton, whose first time ball into the box saw  MITCHELL fire his 35th goal of the season, after some neat footwork left his marker stranded. Britannia gained a free kick moments later after a smart turn by Scott Bennett played Megyesi through but found his progress halted by a needless foul as the hosts threatened to run away with the game.

Danny Brown was causing the visitors problems with his surging runs from full back dominating that side of the pitch. But his impact on the game was halted on 65 mins when Renishaw went 3-2 up on the card count. The player escaped further punishment just 2 mins later with a carbon copy foul again on Brown, this time he had to leave the field and be replaced by Taylor. Renishaw equalised seconds later after gaining a free kick themselves out by the touchline, the ball was crossed in and headed firmly home. Britannia were rocked by the loss of Brown and came under pressure with Taylor making a timely interception in the 6 yard box to clear.

Renishaw grabed what turned out to be the winning goal with 15 mins left, a ball in to the edge of the box was swept home past Furniss. Mitchell went close soon after, but he snatched at his shot firing over when well placed. despite all thier best efforts Britannia couldnt find a way past the League winners defence and they hung on resolutely for all 3 points despite gaining a needless Red Card after the final whistle had sounded. FULL TIME Britannia F.C..1 Renishaw M.W..2
