AFC Wolverhampton City U13 welcomed Sedgley White Lions U13 North to Smestow Academy on 4 October 2026 for a 12:30pm kick-off in a 9-a-side league fixture. The home side produced a commanding display to run out 10-1 winners in a match that showcased their attacking prowess and tactical discipline over the 60 minutes plus added time.

Wolverhampton City lined up in a 3-4-1 formation, deploying three defenders at the back with Elliot Street on the right, Jenson Jones centrally, and George Dunne on the left. Their midfield quartet consisted of Oliver Lea on the right, James Turley and Josh Lea centrally, and Isaac Sutheran on the left, providing width and control. Harrison Szymanel led the line as the lone striker, tasked with spearheading the attack. The formation was designed to balance defensive solidity with midfield creativity and attacking support. On the bench, Gabriel Quintyne-Morris and Bailey Holmes were named as substitutes, ready to make an impact when called upon.

The match began with a shock early goal from Sedgley White Lions in the second minute, putting the visitors ahead and setting an unexpected tone. However, Wolverhampton City quickly responded, with Oliver Lea restoring parity in the eighth minute, signalling the start of their relentless offensive onslaught.

At the 16-minute mark, Wolverhampton City made a double substitution, bringing on Gabriel Quintyne-Morris for Jenson Jones in central defence and Bailey Holmes replacing Isaac Sutheran on the left midfield. This tactical tweak appeared to inject fresh energy into the side.

Just four minutes later, Gabriel Quintyne-Morris opened his account with a goal, assisted by Oliver Lea, putting Wolverhampton City ahead for the first time. The momentum continued as striker Harrison Szymanel struck twice in quick succession at the 21st and 24th minutes, demonstrating clinical finishing and positioning.

Szymanel completed his hat-trick in the 27th minute, this time assisted by right defender Elliot Street, who ventured forward to deliver a precise pass. This goal further emphasised Wolverhampton City's dominance in the attacking third.

At half-time, the scoreline read 6-1 in favour of the hosts. Shortly before the break, at the 30th minute, two substitutions were made: Jenson Jones returned to replace Bailey Holmes in defence, and Isaac Sutheran came back on for Oliver Lea in midfield. Harrison Szymanel capped off the first half with his fourth goal, ensuring Wolverhampton City went into the interval with a commanding lead.

The second half saw Wolverhampton City maintain their attacking intensity. In the 43rd minute, Bailey Holmes scored from the penalty spot, with the penalty awarded following a foul in the box. The goal was expertly set up by Szymanel, who continued to influence play even after his goal-scoring exploits.

At the 45th minute mark, two further substitutions took place: Oliver Lea returned to the pitch replacing the prolific Szymanel, and Elliot Street came back on for James Turley, signalling a slight reshuffle in midfield and defence.

The home sideโ€™s dominance was further underlined late in the game. In the 56th minute, Isaac Sutheran scored after a well-crafted assist from Gabriel Quintyne-Morris. This was quickly followed by a goal from Josh Lea in the 57th minute, also assisted by Quintyne-Morris, who was proving to be a key creative force after his introduction.

Isaac Sutheran completed his brace in the 58th minute, rounding off a comprehensive attacking display from Wolverhampton City. The final whistle confirmed a resounding 10-1 victory for the home side, a result that reflected their superior organisation, fluidity in midfield, and clinical finishing.

George Dunne was named player of the match for his outstanding performance at left back, combining defensive solidity with effective support in attack. His contribution was vital in maintaining the teamโ€™s shape and balance throughout the contest.

Wolverhampton Cityโ€™s emphatic win at Smestow Academy will boost their confidence as they continue their league campaign, while Sedgley White Lions will be left to regroup after a tough afternoon on the road.
