Home tournament match played on 29 March 2014.
Kicked off at 11:00 AM

The second match in the Northabbey Cup Group B, against Rosario Youth at Dairyhall with a 11am Kick Off.

The pitch was very soft after a match on just before us and the rain was a constant drizzle. We started brightly and were two up in the first sixteen minutes, the first goal came in the 13th minute when Reece Atkinson set up Noah Crenshaw and Noah calmly put the ball in the net; 1:0 Ards. The second came three minutes later Ryan Hannah on the right wing found Reece Atkinson with a nice little pass, Reece went on down the right wing to the by-line fired over a low powerful ball and the Rosario defender put it in his own net; 2:0 Ards. Then for some strange reason we seem to take our foot of the gas and some slack defending let Rosario get a goal back in the 28th minute; 2:1 Ards.

HALF TIME; 2:1

Half time talk was about playing the football we know that we are capable off and if we want to win this match we need to do that.

The second half was much better and seemed to be in control but it took us to the 66th minute to score the third goal and secure the win, it came from Joel Hill who held the ball up and then found Ryan Hannah who skipped past two defenders and sent his shot flying past the Rosario keeper; 3:1 Ards. This then saw us go in a goal spree, the fourth coming 1 minute later when Ben Appleton hit his shot straight at the defender, the rebound fell to Travis Jamison 22 yards out who smashed a powerful half volley into the top left hand corner of the net to score his first goal in Ards colours; 4:1 Ards. Four minutes later it was number 5, again Ben Appleton was involved as he missed the shot but was able to find Noah Crenshaw who put the ball in the net for his second of the match; 5:1 Ards. Then four minutes later we got number six, when Reece Atkinson set up Joel Hill and Joel tucked the ball into the net; 6:1 Ards.

FULL TIME; 6:1

Managers Comments:

A good result boys but we were very sluggish in the middle part of this match, you all know you can play a lot better. Bryansburn next week so you need to bring your "A" game.
