The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 8’s Tandridge team played their first away league game of the New Year on Sunday away to Whyteleafe FC. The game ended in a 4-0 win for Foresters.
Foresters had the majority of the early possession and opened the scoring in the 6th minute when following a good through ball Joe Pickett shot past the home goalkeeper into the net. Foresters continued to dominate the possession and added to the scoreline in the 13th minute when Fraser Abbott scored following a good passage of play. Foresters continued to press forward but could not convert any more of their chances so at half-time the scoreline remained 2-0 to Foresters.
In the second half the Under 8’s continued to try and pass the ball around and they continued to create chances but they could not beat the Whyteleafe goalkeeper who made several good saves to keep his team in the game. Foresters finally got the third goal when a well worked move ended with Erik Anderberg scoring and Ollie Plunkett rounded off a good performance by the boys by adding a fourth midway through the second half.
Well done to the boys on a good result and also for playing some excellent football in difficult conditions.
Also well done to the defenders for keeping a well deserved clean sheet and also to Luca Caira who made some important saves and maintained his concentration levels throughout the game even though he had long periods of inactivity.
