Basingstoke Town FC welcomed Monksbrook to the Stoneham Lane Football Complex 1G on 17 January 2026 for a 7-a-side league home match, kicking off at 2:15pm. In a thrilling contest lasting 51 minutes plus injury time, Basingstoke Town emerged dominant with a 6-2 triumph over their visitors.

Basingstoke Town lined up in a 2-3-1 formation, deploying two central defenders, three midfielders across the left, central, and right channels, and a lone striker leading the line. Elliot Munt guarded the goal, with Franko De’ath and Albert Ingram forming the central defensive partnership. The midfield trio consisted of Cameron Barr on the left, Jasper Crane centrally, and Louie Vincent on the right, tasked with both defensive duties and supporting attacks. Up front, Blake Munt spearheaded the attack as the sole striker, expected to convert chances created by the midfield. The substitutes bench featured Mo Kourouma, ready to make an impact if called upon.

The match burst into life early on as Cameron Barr opened the scoring in the fourth minute, expertly finishing after a precise assist from Louie Vincent down the right flank. Just two minutes later, Jasper Crane doubled the advantage, capitalising on a defensive error from Monksbrook to slot home. The early pressure continued with Blake Munt adding a third goal in the ninth minute, assisted by Barr’s clever play, putting Basingstoke firmly in control.

Shortly after, a tactical substitution saw Mo Kourouma replace Jasper Crane in the tenth minute, signalling a shift in midfield dynamics. The home side’s attacking threat remained potent as Blake Munt struck again in the 17th minute, this time unleashing a long-range strike following a long pass from goalkeeper Elliot Munt, showcasing the keeper’s vision and precision.

In a swift response, Jasper Crane returned to the field in the 18th minute, replacing Blake Munt, who had been influential up to that point. Monksbrook managed to pull one back in the 19th minute, injecting some hope into their challenge. The first half concluded at 25.5 minutes, with Basingstoke holding a commanding 4-1 lead.

The second half began with further changes as Blake Munt was reintroduced in place of Albert Ingram in the 27th minute, followed by Albert Ingram coming back on for Louie Vincent eight minutes later. These substitutions maintained the team’s balance and energy. Basingstoke’s dominance was reaffirmed in the 35th minute when Blake Munt scored his third goal of the match, a simple tap-in following a well-timed assist from Albert Ingram.

Monksbrook struck again in the 38th minute, narrowing the deficit to 5-2, but Basingstoke’s resilience was unwavering. Another substitution occurred in the 41st minute with Louie Vincent returning to replace Cameron Barr, refreshing the right midfield position. The home side sealed their emphatic victory in the 48th minute when Franko De’ath added a sixth goal, rounding off a comprehensive team performance.

Basingstoke Town’s tactical setup and fluid substitutions ensured they maintained control throughout, with their attacking trio particularly effective in breaking down Monksbrook’s defence. The 2-3-1 formation allowed the midfield to dominate possession and supply the striker with numerous opportunities, which Blake Munt capitalised on with a hat-trick. Defensive solidity from De’ath and Ingram, combined with Elliot Munt’s commanding presence in goal and distribution, laid the foundation for this resounding win.
