Home league match played on 10 December 2011.

wow what a game of football.

bafc came into this game knowing that they would need to be very resilliant against 2nd in the league, and what a goal fest was given by both sets of attacking and brilliant football teams.

bafc again started slowly and after 10m were 0-1 down after a scrappy defensive mistake, bafc were then reeling when after only 15 m they were 0-2 down and seemed no-way back, but a fantastic team performance and a backs to the wall performance bafc pulled one back when mom matt medler put a fantastic thru ball to laryea who struck with some venum to see the keeper pull off a brilliant save but alert medler reacted quicker and followed up the rebound to make the score line 1-2 after 21m, bafc then equalised after only 23mins when new signing george sharpe volleyed from 15yds to bury the equaliser and bafc were back in the game 2-2. the firat half saw both teams have chances with the newark keeper and bafc keeper thornley pulling off some fantastic saves to keep the scoreline at a draw as the halt time whistle blew.

the 2nd half saw again both teams with very attacking minds and on the 53rd min again newark took the lead when a dubious free kick was given and the ball played to the edge of the box for the newark striker to turn and shoot, thornley had no-chance as it came thru a crowd of players but he did manage to get finger tips to it but still it landed in the net 2-3,could bafc come back again, the answer was yes and on the 66th min striker laryea got the first of his brace when a brilliant team move ended up with the striker heading home at the back post 3-3 what a thriller was happening.

unfortunetly bafc were behind again after 75m when bafc lost possession in midfield and a thru ball was latched onto by the newark striker to make the scoreline 3-4 but again bafc came back straight from the kick off when the ball was returned to keeper thornley his massive kick was latched onto by laryea who calmly slotted past the advancing newark keeper to bring the game back all square 4-4.

with only 15m left all the fans thought this is how it would end , but bafc were robbed of a single point when the ref awarded a vey dubious free kick and the ball was side passed to the midfielder who shot against his own player who turned his back and the ball looped up over thornley fluke fluke fluke.

bafc tried in vain to equalise again but the final whistle was sounded and both teams played there part in a fantastic game of football not just for all the goals but also the build up play from both teams was a joy to admire.

team managers coshell/bescoby could not parise their lads enough, "we deserved something from that and it shows that we can compete against the top four teams in this league, mat medler was outstanding and deserved the man of the match award after the game ,  coshell added, it would of been nice to see us go infront at some part of the game and see if they could of come back, but that we will never know".

bafc finish their 2011 season mid-table as they now have a break until the 7th january when they face bottesford who are just behind them in the league.

the baston athletic management team would like to wish all the players and their families a very merry xmas and a prosperous new year.

well done lads

heres to 2012.
