Beckenham Town KYL U15 hosted Fisher U15 at Club Langley on 21 September 2025 in a pulsating league game that kicked off at 10:00am. The 80-minute contest, refereed by Temi ended in a dramatic 5-4 victory for the home side. Both teams displayed attacking intent, but it was Beckenham Town who ultimately prevailed in a high-scoring encounter.

Beckenham Town lined up in their usual 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Sami Kechiche in goal to marshal the defence. The back four consisted of Anton Legister at right back, Lenny Burnett and Harry Odlum as the central defensive pairing, and Harvey Gray operating on the left flank. In midfield, Lewis Hayden and Adem Hussein held the central roles, tasked with being available to receive the ball when playing out, and breaking up play aggressively in defence. Ahead of them, Dominic Morgan took up the right attacking midfield position, Sam Graney occupied the central creative attacking midfield role, and Turkson Appiah featured on the left attacking midfield. Spearheading the line was Joe Ingliss.

From the outset, Fisher made their intent known, they’d come to win. Beckenham were on the back foot. Poor decision making and sloppy passing compounded Beckenhams problems. Fisher were quickly 1-0 up, with their dominance earning an early goal. But the goal seemed to awaken the Beckenham midfield who began dominating possession, Adem and Lewis combining well, switching play, and looking far more composed. Turkson won the ball high from a Fisher defender, turning on the skills to destroy two defenders before cutting inside and shooting past the keeper, drawing Beckenham level.

Beckenhams dominance was now on full display, The defensive unit, marshalled by Burnett and Odlum, were controlling the Fisher forwards and the Beckenham full backs were increasingly involved in attacks high. With Beckenham in full control Lenny wins a1v1 dual With the Fisher striker, and sends a diagonal ball out to Dominic Morgan on the right, who drives forward and sends In low cross which evades Turkson and falls to Joe, but somehow isn’t converted. The the danger isn’t over, Adem and Sam combine nicely before recycling the ball back to Lenny who once again sends a ball out wide, this time to Anton on the right, who beats his man and sends in a high cross in to the box. Joe Inglis was waiting to pounce and volleyed the ball past the helpless keeper to make it 2-1.

Shortly after Adem once again harassing the Fisher midfielders into mistakes and Lewis winning the ball in Midfield, playing into the feet of Turkson who Fisher were now struggling to contain, Some nice skills followed by a reverse pass into Joe, who then delivered a tasty back heel return pass to Turkson, now free down the left half space, once again Skilling his opponent up, to cut back perfectly to midfield Meastro Sam Graney, to power drive the ball to the keeper’s right, from the edge of the area. 3-1.

Beckenham Town’s attacking midfield trio linking well to create chances for Ingliss, which on another day he would’ve been slotted away. But the pitch conditions were making life difficult. The respite was short lived, Turkson sending a long through ball to Joe, who sprinted ahead of the defender, to slot home beneath the keeper at the near post. Making it 4-1 And the game should’ve been wrapped up.

But with seconds remaining of the half, hesitancy allowed a loose ball to bounce over our midfielders head in a dangerous area, and then the midfield lost a 50:50 challenge, allowing the Fisher CAM to slot a through ball into a dangerous area. The Fisher attackers were more alert than the Beckenham defence, and against the run of play, toe pocked the ball past Sami Kechiche, to make it 4-2 as the half time whistle blew.

The second half a number of substitutions made, Beckenham once again starting the half sloppy in possession, and unorganised in midfield shape. Beckenham were struggling to get any momentum and the wingers were having little impact. Sam Graney moved to a deeper role to get on to the ball more. But the opposition were now playing long and direct to their wingers. Causing problems for the Beckenham full backs. It wasn’t pretty, but it was proving effective. Fisher now preventing Beckenham playing and causing problems with long high balls. Fisher scored early, making it 4-3, a cross into the Box was headed home from close range, and their tails were now up. A second headed goal from a free kick, which lobbed over the Beckenham keeper on his line, drew them level and at this stage there looked to be only 1 winner in this game.

But against the run of play Turkson broke free down the right wing, cut inside his man and slotted home to make it 5-4, Stealing victory from the jaws of defeat, to the celebrations of his team mates.

Throughout the match, the intensity never waned as both teams traded goals. The quality was lacking, particularly in the second half, which was in no small part due to the pitch. Fishers unlikely come back was commendable but it will be Beckenham Town that end the day as winners, sitting atop the KYL Central division.
