Away league match played on 01 December 2013.
Kicked off at 12:45 PM

The Rockets were numerous for this match, buoyed by the recent success against the Diamonds. All were keen to get some match time and with three rested the positions were rotated. Cameron took the gloves for the first half, with Cameron, Sam and Dan across the back. Hayden, Jack, Brendan and Joe were across the middle with Tom upfront. Joel was the sole sub!

The Rockets were soon into their stride and some excellent interplay through Brendan, Jack and Joe soon started to pull the Spiders around the pitch and it wasn’t long before the first goal went in through a nice one-two between Jack and Joe. Jack finished the move 1-0 Rockets.

The Rockets were up and running and a confident team meant the passing flowed and the Rockets were blasting through the Spiders defence, it wasn’t long before another and another and another - the game was starting to look easy for the Rockets. Joe was running the full back ragged, and Brendan and Jack were bossing the midfield, Hayden was looking sharp and joining the attack along with Jake and Daniel who had plenty of forays into the Spiders half to overwhelm the Blades who weren't coping with the flowing football. The half finished 5-0 Rockets and the game was effectively over. Tom, Brendan, Joe and Jack all on the score sheet.

Cameron came out of the goal and Jake took the gloves and the second half began as the first had finished. Joel came onto the wing and put some nice passes together, carving the defence open to create more chances. The Rockets had developed a shoot on site philosophy now and the Spiders keeper was overworked! Another goal from Joe, two more from Tom and one each to Jack and Brendan and the score line was racking up. Sam was joining in and going for the numerous corners and had a couple of bursting runs a the creaking defence. Everyone was trying their luck, but a speculative run and fierce shot saw Jake beaten to the surprise of most and the Spiders had a consolation.

The game was turning into a rout so a couple of positions were changed but this didn’t stop the flow of goals, it was soon 11, 12 ….. The pick of the latter goals a lovely curler from the sedentary Joel into the top corner.

The game finished 16-1 to the Rockets and although the Spiders were obviously down they never gave up and full credit to them they kept trying. The Rockets were too good and harder games will follow but everyone played very well and the confidence and skills were all on show for everyone to see. We kept our shape and more importantly passed and moved. We will need to keep this discipline when we are under pressure in tighter games, but for today - well done everyone great result!
