SHEAR DELIGHT!!! CHAPLINS. 3 - GATESHEAD SNOOKER. 2

THE SEASON STARTS HERE FOLKS SO GOING INTO THE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON- WE WENT IN MANAGERLESS AS PAUL VAUDREY WAS IN MAJORCA SO CLUB CAPTAIN JOE VAN PERSIE TOOK THYE HOTSEAT FOR THE DAY.SO AS JOE WAS MANAGER HE HANDED THE ARMBAND TO CLUB VERERAN MATTY GRAINGER. CHAPLINS HAD A STRONG TEAM OUT FOR THIS MATCH AS IT LOOKED LIKE AN UNSTEADY GATESHEAD TEAM LACKING FORM FROM THE SEASON BEFORE .CHAPLINS HAD HANDED OUT FULL DEBUTS TO DEFENDER TOM FARREL , STRIKER JAMIE STOTT AND GOALKEEPER MARC ROBISON . WE WENT INTO THE GAME RAREING TO GO AS WE HAD BEEN THRASHED THE WEEK BEFORE IN A FRIENDLY WITH CHAMPIONS GLENEAGLES . MATTY WON THE TOSS AND DECIDED TO KICK INTO THE WIND FIRST HALF. CHAPLINS STARTED THE GAME REALLY WELL PASSING AND MOVING WELL LOADS OF CONFIDANCE ON THE BALL , WITH SOME SMART BALLS OVER THE TOP FOR THE FORWARDS TO RUN ONTO AND DEFENSIVE SHAPE LOOKED SOLID AND TIGHT. JAMIE HAYES WAS THE ONE TO SHINE IN THE GAME AS NORMALLY STAND IN KEEPER STARTED ON THE RIGHT WING AND GOT UP AND DOWN THE RIGHT WING WORKING HIS SOCKS OFF TO HELP THE TEAM SEAMED HE WAS EVERYWHERE ON THE PITCH. DEFENSIVE CENTRE HALVES DOUGLAS AND FARRELL LOOKED COMFORTABLE TOGETHER SWEEPING MOST THINGS UP AT THE BACK AND STAND IN LEFT BACK ADAM DUFFY DONE A GREAT JOB TOO. THE NOT SO NORMALLY FIT MARTYN SPOORS HAD SOME CLASSIC BURST DOWN THAT RIGHT WORKING AWSOME WITH HAYES . BADBOY BRENT MCKENNA HELPED OUT ON THE LEFT SIDE WITH A DECENT PERFORMANCE. COMING BACK FROM THE DEAD LEE SHEARSMITH RAN THE SHOW IN THE MIDDLE ALL GAME AND ALWAYS LOOKED COMFORTABLE ON THE BALL. THE GOALS CAME HALF WAY THROUGH THE FIRST HALF JAMIE STOTT SCORING TO PROVE HIM SELF EARLY WITH A LOVERLY THROUGH BALL FROM VAN PERSIE , GATESHEAD GOT BACK INTO IT WITH A SCRAPPY GOAL BUT CHAPLINS HEADS NEVER DROPPED. CHAPLINS TOOK THE LEAD AGAIN WITH A ADAM DUFFY RORY DELAP THROW FOR VAN PERSIE TO HEAD HOME IN THE TOP CORNER FOR AN ASSIST AND A GOAL. CHAPLINS SHOULD OF KILLED THE GAME OFF WITH A FEW ONE ON ONES FOR GRAINGER AND HAYES ONLY TO COME CLOSE . CHAPLINS WENT INTO HALF TIME 2-1 UP AND CONFIDANT OF A RESULT , A CORNER CAME IN FROM JOE TO BE HEADED AWAY FOR IT TO COME TO DOUGLAS TO FALL OVER THE BALL TO SET AWAY GATESHEAD FOR A COUNTER ATTACK LEAVING THEIR YOUNG FORWARD ONE ON ONE WITH FARRELL TO BE TURNED INSIDE OUT LIKE A JUMPER TO SLOT THE BALL PAST ROBISON TO EQUILIZE 2-2. BOTH TEAM FELT THAT NEXT GOAL WOULD KILL THE GAME OFF AS TIERD LEGS CAME INTO PLAY AND CHAPLINS WANTED IT MORE THAN GATESHEAD AND WHAT A WAY OF WINNING IT WITH GOOD VISON FROM SHEARSMITH TO SEE THEIR KEEPER OFF HIS LINE FROM EDGE OF THE DEE IN THEIR HALF STROKE THE BALL WELL AND THE WIND TOOK IT HOME . THE DOING IT THE HARD WAY WINNING SCRAPY BUT SHOWED QUILITY AT THE END WITH THE THREE POINTS ON THE BOARD. GAME POINTERS -  DEBUTANTS SHOWED QUILITY , JAMIES HAYES GRAFT AND WINNING THE GAME IN STYLE WITH A STORMING STRIKE FROM SHEARMITH.
