BoC F.C. 1 vs 2 Foster & Partners

Maybe with a bit of inside knowledge, and certainly with the aid of some good players, Fosters did a bit of a job on us last night. Solid at the back, where Tom seemed to get his head on everything and dangerous in midfield / up top, with Andrea, Manu and a new very useful Dutch lad pulling the strings, we lost and I would say deserved to lose, even if the score line was close and we technically won the second half. Started the game ok, but Fosters midfielder hit a long ranger which looked it swerved a bit on its way past Tyson. Their second followed soon after. Ball over the top, half-hearted claims for a borderline offside, and the striker tucked it past Tyson nicely. In the second half, good through ball from Paul was finished nicely by Tony. Have to call out as MotM Andrew who played left back and centre back and made a great hard tackle to stop Manu in his tracks at one point. Luke was shouting “have a nibble”, but I was trying to shepherd him wide and not dive in. Andrew appeared out of nowhere, crunched Manu and came out with the ball. Splendid stuff. Off to the Candlemaker. Not sure I have been there before, but it’s an interesting place with reasonable priced beer(4 beers for £18 - hurray!) and very interesting clientele. A bit more earthy, shall we say, than the Latch. And amen to that. Anyway, one of the more interesting clientele took a right shine to Charlie, which we all enjoyed. She was last spotted sitting in a deck chair in the middle of the road, so hope she had a good evening and got home ok! Went to Ali’s, but no Ali, unfortunately. Presented a 40th birthday shirt to club legend and midfield maestro Ilyas, who made a great acceptance speech. Pictures attached. Discussed the game a bit and Manu’s contribution, much to the annoyance of Luke (“Manu, Manu, Manu!”) and the ineffectiveness and inefficiency of the club member selection committee (sits infrequently, generally prone to prevarication and dithering, won’t do today what can be done in 6 months time). Report done on Friday, after criticism of it appearing late, from Charlie! Tom Huth played full game for the oppo.
