Away cup match played on 12 October 2013.
Kicked off at 1:30 PM

BBOB made it five wins in five against a determined AFC Boundstone team in the Hove & Worthing Cup (second Round). This was possibly a great game to watch as a neutral, with a total of eleven goals scored!

As per normal, changes were made to the BBOB line-up, at late notice Ryan Satterly was asked to go in goal for ever-absent Craig Watson, unfortunately this week Mr Watson was poorly! This meant Scott Kemsley resumed his previous position at left back, Chris Thomas made his first start of the season at the centre of midfield having previously come on as sub, Dan Buchanan slotted in at right midfield and Gavyn Mewett partnered John Tibbs up front.

BBOB took control of the game almost immediately but were unable to force a lead before, and against the run of play, Boundstone took the lead after a mix up in the BBOB defence at the 15 minute mark.

BBOB responded perfectly, forcing a corner two minutes later where the ball fell to left back Scott Kemsley on the edge of area, his tame shot was parried by the Boundstone keeper and Gavyn Mewett pounced to bury the rebound from one yard out! Further chances were created by BBOB, the AFC Boundstone keeper made a fine save from a Jamie Eade close range effort, and after some good work down the right involving Paul Barton & Howard Lloyd, Dan Buchanan fired a good chance over the bar. BBOB finally took the lead in the 27th minute when Scott Kemsley picked up a pass from centre back Dan Edwards, some 30 yards out and fired an incredible right foot shot into the roof of the net. An early contender for goal of the season (along with Paul Barton's similar effort from a few games before!).

Unfortunately BBOB could not hold on to the lead, and two minutes later another defensive mix up led to another Boundstone goal. Shortly before this BBOB keeper Ryan Satterly had made a fine one handed save from a long range Boundtone effort. Just before half time Boundtone could have taken the lead as BBOB were once again exposed by their long ball play, this time the ball was cleared off the line by centre back Adam Leaver! Half time 2-2.

The second half continued in a similar vein to the first, with BBOB playing some neat passing attacking football as the opposition effectively launched the ball down field with the hope that a forward would capitalise on any errors made by the BBOB back line!

BBOB re-took the lead in the 50th minute when some good passing play down the right and a quality cross from Dan Buchanan found the head, sorry no, the hand, then finally the left foot of Jamie Eade who passed the ball into the back of the net!

The lead lasted until the 72nd minute, but somehow Boundtone found a way through again, and again totally against the run of play! This time after a series of missed opportunities to clear their lines the ball fell to an opposition forward just inside the box and his shot found the bottom left hand corner of the net, after taking a ricochet of a BBOB defender! Five minutes later BBOB again re-took the lead, this time Dan Buchanan found Gavyn Mewett in space on the edge of the Boundstone area and his first time thunder bolt went in off the underside of the cross bar! Surely now BBOB had the game wrapped up?!

This was not the case at all, as just four minutes later a well struck Boundtone effort was fumbled by the BBOB goalkeeper and the rebound was buried by a nearby forward to make it 4-4. Extra time was looming! Three minutes later BBOB took the lead again, this time John Tibbs was the provider, his well-placed pass found midfielder Howard Lloyd in space on the edge of the area and his first time strike across the keeper found the top corner of the net and SURELY now BBOB were into the next round?!

As it happens they were indeed! BBOB continued to push for a sixth goal, John Tibbs made a good chance for himself with a solo run and his well struck shot crashed against the cross bar. The 'injured' Jamie Eade was replaced on 90 minutes by player-manager Steve Maskell at left midfield.

Finally the sixth goal came in additional time after some quality one-two passing between Howard Lloyd and Dan Buchanan, with the ball finally falling to Dan to slot the ball easily beyond the stranded opposition goalkeeper. Deep into added time right back Paul Barton broke out of defence (again!!) from the half way line with the ball, he unselfishly tried to square the ball to centre forward John Tibbs but an opposition defender intervened and placed the ball out for a corner! From the resulting Dan Buchanan corner Howard Lloyd got his head over the ball and buried it into the net to make it seven goals for BBOB!

Another hard fought game from BBOB and possibly a typical cup match! Once again the quality in the squad was clearly shown by the performances of the players that came in to replace those missing!
