Lion FC 1-4 Bristol Barcelona

A terrible day to play football, even worse to be watching on the line. To quote Meatloaf, I would do anything for love, and so standing In the rain was a small price to pay to witness another showing of fighting spirit and quality from the barca boys. 7 straight wins, and some very big games to come.

Damian Chlopecki - conceded for the first time in 5 games, truth be told there was nothing he could do with the goal. A relatively quiet day but a couple of usual big saves and excellent kicking into a strong wind.

Declan Cooper - An exceptional performance, Dec has made the right back slot his own in recent weeks and this was his best game yet in the barca colours. He read the game excellently. Defensively and distribution on the ball was Trent, wait, Seamus Coleman like. A well deserved man of the match.

Dave Hodge - Has turned over a new leaf this season, defensively great and other than one moment for the goal showed the dominance mixed with calm composure you love to see with your skipper.

Elliott Evans - Fair play to Ells he had a swollen knee, tennis elbow, a cricked neck, 3 broken legs and a hernia, but he loves football so much he had to play. Unfortunately by trying to avoid tweaking any of the list of injuries, he rolled his ankle after 10 mins and had to come off.

Matt Roberts - robbo came into the game and bossed it from his first touch. Delighted to have him back at the club and doing his thing. Not only his overall play but his leadership and organisation also a great benefit to the group.

Ol Lo - Missed the warm up and team talk as he stayed in his car until 1 minute before kick off (1 minute too early in his opinion). Some great passing, and continued his rich vein of form in heading the ball begrudgingly.

?????? ?????? is such an important player for us, I feel lucky that he chose to come and play with us this summer. This was another display of the two sides of Ata’s game, dominant off the ball, many big tackles and headers defensively and superb reading of the game to make interceptions and blocks. On the ball it’s always quick, one touch passing that creates a move forward. Ran out of Lion players to sliding tackle so put Dec up in the air in the second half!!!

Damian Kafara - Kafara glides around the pitch, always making himself available for the pass and giving it simple. Some great moments today getting in good positions and covers so much ground pressing and working defensively that make us hard to break down.

Lukasz Jasikowski - Id heard lots of good things about Lukasz, this game told me everything I need to know. Great skill, strength and decision making, he bossed the midfield and looks a really complete midfield player, great to have him in the team.

Alex Miners - Due to our wealth of options in CM, Al has played higher up this season and he’s adapted really well. Another goal today, his goal and assist tally has been impressive. His pressing set the tone for the rest of the team and alongside the other 3 who rotated in CM they played some brilliant football in tough conditions.

Dan Lamb - Moved on to 6 league goals by scoring directly from a corner. I think he said he meant it! Top scorer and another great game.

Marcin Taras was so good today. A dream striker in these conditions he bullied the opposition centre backs, and after a few weeks doing the hard work for others to score, was delighted to see him bang in our first goal. Unplayable at times, and at the heart of our best attacking play also assisting Lewis for his goal.

Lewis J Thompson - It was a hard day for dribbling, and in the first half Lewis worked his socks off without much joy, but his resilience paid off and some nice skill assisted Alex for his goal. Also got his goal in the second half after a great move and pass from Marcin, hit a great finish low into the near post.

Chris Wilks Williams - A typical Wilks performance full of strength, energy and blue steel. Worked hard and his highlight was a wonderful cross field pass that Marcin put narrowly wide.

Thanks to the few fans who despite the conditions came along to support it means a lot.
