Broughty Utd Panthers 2012 welcomed Laurencekirk to Dawson Park on the morning of 9 May 2026 for a league home match kicking off at 10:30am. The Panthers delivered a commanding performance, running out comfortable 5-0 winners in a 70-minute contest that showcased their attacking prowess and defensive solidity.
Broughty Utd Panthers lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, deploying Rhys Murray in goal behind a back four of Finn Taylor at right back, Rohan Kelly and Harris Robson as central defenders, and Finley Loyley on the left. The midfield quartet featured Uday Athwal on the right wing, Blair Innes and Dougray Low centrally, and Lucas Dobson on the left flank. Kristian Shterev operated just behind lone striker Cameron McInnes, tasked with linking play and creating chances. This setup was designed to provide width and midfield control, with Shterev supporting McInnes in attack. The substitutes named were Jacob Crabb, Nathan Hannan, Ethan Gunn, Keir Wells, and Max Lafferty.
The match burst into life early on with Broughty Utd Panthers asserting dominance. At 17 minutes, Lucas Dobson’s precise delivery found Cameron McInnes, who coolly finished with his right foot to open the scoring. The Panthers’ momentum was relentless as just a minute later, Rohan Kelly unleashed a powerful right-footed strike from outside the box, doubling the lead and leaving the Laurencekirk goalkeeper with no chance.
Barely had the crowd settled when Finley Loyley added a third goal also from outside the box at 18 minutes, firing a right-footed shot that further demoralised the visitors. The Panthers were ruthless in attack and at 21 minutes, Lucas Dobson again provided the assist, this time setting up Kristian Shterev who curled a left-footed finish into the net, making it 4-0 inside the opening quarter of the match.
With such a commanding lead, Broughty Utd Panthers made a double substitution at half time, bringing on Jacob Crabb for Cameron McInnes and Nathan Hannan replacing Harris Robson.
The second half began, and further changes were made as Ethan Gunn, Keir Wells, and Max Lafferty entered the fray at 40 minutes, replacing Dougray Low, Kristian Shterev, and Rohan Kelly respectively. These tactical switches aimed to maintain the Panthers’ intensity and control over the game.
At 53 minutes, Harris Robson returned to the pitch, substituting Finn Taylor, while Cameron McInnes was reintroduced in place of Lucas Dobson, signalling a fresh attacking impetus. However, the visitors struggled to gain any foothold, and at 56 minutes Nathan Hannan was shown a yellow card, reflecting the physical nature of the contest.
Further changes followed at 61 minutes with Rohan Kelly coming back on for Finley Loyley for a stint up top. The final goal came at 65 minutes when Uday Athwal’s assist found Blair Innes, who finished with composure to seal a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
Broughty Utd Panthers’ clinical finishing and tactical flexibility were key to their dominant display, while their defensive unit ensured a clean sheet against a hapless Laurencekirk side. The hosts will take great confidence from this emphatic win as they look ahead in the league campaign.
