Home league match played on 28 September 2008.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Tooting and Mitcham remain undefeated after a 4-1 win against the Comets. It was a great opportunity for the girls to play as it was their first match of the season to be played in the stadium (the hub.) The girls warmed up infront of a crowd which cheered them on even at this stage. The kits were hung up and ready for the girls to play in. They made a spectacular entrance onto the pitch as the walked through the tunnel, and were surrounded by cheerleaders who encouraged both the players; and the crowd to cheer both teams onto  the pitch. Moreover players from the reserves began to arrive after coming back from an 11-0 victory at Farm road; to show their support. Helen and Jo made there first start from the reserves, and kadeisha was back for her first game of the season. After shaking hands Mel and Helen kicked off the game for Tooting and Mitcham.

The game started at a fairly fast pace, however both teams looked like they were feeling nervous by the whole situation, as alot of loose passes were played. Tooting began to find a rythm but still couldnt string more than a few passes together. Eventually the ball broke through to Molly who was able to control the ball and volley it into the top corner from long range with a spectacular effort. Even she herself could not believe that it had gone in. The first half continued and players slowed down as the sun began to get to them. Tooting drove in many long range shots, but the Comets keeper was equal to them. The players looked to be gald that the half time whistle blew.

The players went back into the changing room and discussed tactics. Afterwards everyone looked more determined to make their mark on the second half.

The teams yet again made the walk through the tunnel to kick off the second half.  The difference began to show as Tooting began to calm down on the ball and keep possession. The defence yet again held strong and didnt let Comets attackers get on the better side of them. Crystal came off to be replaced by Kelly, and five minutes later Jo too came off for Kadeisha; after they both pulled off great performances. Tamara chipped the ball across the goal and Helen was able to convert the ball into the net, using her right knee after good build up play starting way back at Chanell. Tooting continued to press on and eventually play led to a corner. Tooting caught Comets defence knapping and Mel took a quick passed corner into Tamara who shot from outside of the box, the ball bounced back off the far post and Helen used her speed to attack the ball; and head the rebound into the net.

The tempo of the game yet again began to slow down, and the Comets began to add on the pressure. This eventualy led to Tooting conceeding a free kick from right outside the box. The free kick beat the wall and was fired into the net by the Comets. Tooting looked more determined to win another goal back and battled hard in the last ten minutes. The ball eventually dropped to Tamara, who curved it from the outside of her boot into the far corner; after a nice pull back from Mel. Both teams continued to battle to the end but the Comets couldn't come back from a well earned victory by Tooting. The crowed cheered as the final whistle blew and all the players came off the pitch for drinks.

The day ended with a selection of photos being taken, some of which can be found in the websites gallery. Generally Tooting displayed a good battle to keep their place at the top of the table! We're in it to win it this season... Come on ladies!
