Castlecourt JFC U13 hosted Silcox Villa at Buckley Hill Lane on the morning of 13 September 2025, with kick-off at 10:30am in a cup tie lasting 70 minutes plus added time. The home side suffered a heavy 8-1 defeat against a dominant Silcox Villa.
Castlecourt lined up in a 3-5-2 formation, deploying three defenders at the back: Kayden Burns on the right, Joshua Barlow centrally, and Logan Dickinson on the left. The midfield was packed with five players, including Archie Ridgeway on the right wing, Mason Bullen on the left, and a central trio of Tyler McDonald, Conlan Doyle-Wall, and Khail Davis tasked with both defensive duties and linking play. Up front, the strike partnership consisted of Leo Douras on the right and Alfie Davies on the left, expected to spearhead attacks and create chances. Harry Richardson guarded the goal. The substitutes available were Olly Roughley, Reuben Darley, Bray Ryles-Evans, and Alex Douras-Wohler.
From the outset, Silcox Villa imposed themselves on the game, opening the scoring in the 11th minute. Just four minutes later, a rare error from Castlecourt’s goalkeeper Harry Richardson led to an assist for the visitors’ second goal, compounding the home side’s early troubles. Silcox Villa continued their dominance, adding a third goal by the 23rd minute, leaving Castlecourt chasing the game.
In response, Castlecourt made a tactical substitution at the 24th minute, bringing on Olly Roughley for Leo Douras in an attempt to inject fresh energy into the attack. However, the visitors’ pressure remained relentless. At the 35th minute, an injury forced Castlecourt to replace central midfielder Tyler McDonald with Reuben Darley, just before the half-time whistle.
The half concluded with Silcox Villa firmly in control, leading 3-0. The second half began almost immediately with Silcox Villa extending their lead in the 36th minute. Yet, Castlecourt showed resilience as Alfie Davies delivered a key pass at the 37th minute, creating a clear chance. This opportunity was expertly converted by Conlan Doyle-Wall, who slotted home a close-range finish with his right foot, assisted by Davies’ short pass. This goal offered a brief glimmer of hope for the home side.
Silcox Villa quickly reasserted their dominance, scoring again in the 49th and 51st minutes. Castlecourt then made further changes, with Bray Ryles-Evans replacing left defender Logan Dickinson in the 53rd minute, followed by Alex Douras-Wohler coming on for right midfielder Archie Ridgeway two minutes later. Despite these adjustments, Silcox Villa continued to find the net, adding goals in the 60th and 66th minutes.
Castlecourt made one final substitution at the 62nd minute, reinstating Tyler McDonald in place of Reuben Darley, but the damage had been done. Silcox Villa’s relentless attacking display left Castlecourt struggling to contain them throughout the match.
Despite the heavy defeat, Castlecourt’s goalkeeper Harry Richardson, central defender Joshua Barlow, and midfielder Conlan Doyle-Wall were recognised for their efforts and determination in a challenging encounter. The visitors’ clinical finishing and sustained pressure proved decisive, leaving Castlecourt to regroup after a tough cup outing at Buckley Hill Lane.
