Away cup match played on 04 November 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Match decided by a penalty shootout.

Sundays game saw us take a break from the league and we visited Bury Town Bulldogs in the 2nd round of the cup. The weather conditions were absolutely appalling throughout the game, however we started extremely well passing the ball like we can and after 5 minutes went one up with a goal from Kai. It seemed we were in cruise mode, as soon as we went one up our game changed. We seemed to want to play football in the same vein as the opposition by hoofing and not passing, this coupled with an absolute disgrace of a referee, (who turns out to not even be a referee!!) saw a free kick given for no reason whatsoever on the edge of our box. Credit to Dominic of the Bulldogs he scored a very good goal from outside the box.

The 2nd half was much the same with atrocious decisions and us not playing our game which led to the Bulldogs scoring another 2 goals. With 5 minutes left we seemed doomed to  defeat “cue the comeback” - all of a sudden you all seemed to gel again and we started knocking the ball around and with some great passing from Cameron, Ben and Callum down the right side saw Kai score his second and put us right back. We were then dogged and Lewis & Tyler worked hard as did everyone and eventually it paid off as Callum slotted home 3 – 3. After that the events were unfortunate and that will be discussed Thursday and then forgotten.  What cannot be forgotten is your courage, spirit and desire to come back from such an adverse situation with the conditions you were faced with was without doubt fantastic, all of you can stand up and be proud of that.

Well done boys!

Penalties – This was time for Finn to step up and step up he did Callum went fist and missed (not deserved for his performance) Cameron next and dispatched, Finn saves 1-1, Ben next who played very well again missed 1-2 to Bury Lewis next dispatched Finn saves again 2-2 Kai with the last penalty took a deep breath and scored Finn saved the last one 3 -2 game over. My heart goes out to the Bulldogs as this is a cruel way for adults to loose let alone 10 yr. old kids .

There were two players of the match awarded this week, Kai was joint with Ben, but this system only allows one to be seen. Well done to the both of you.

Onwards and upwards the ¼ final next sees us at home to Thurston.

Training will be all about possession on Thursday to see if we can get back to our way before Sundays game and a 5 week break. Well done boys see you Thursday.

Apologies there are no photos of this game but the weather wouldn't allow it!
