Claregate's 100% win record in 2018 came to a crushing end this afternoon with a 6-1 defeat at the hands of current league champions and top of the league Dynamo Dudley in our 2nd group fixture of the Martyn Chell Cup.
For much of the 1st half Claregate competed well all over the pitch and had chances to take the lead but failed to score due to a combination of good goalkeeping and lack of composure in front of goal. Dynamo broke the deadlock on 33 minutes after Claregate failed to clear a freekick. Half time score was 1-0.
4 goals in 11 2nd half minutes did the damage and Dynamo established a healthy lead before adding another on 77 minutes. Although Claregate battled on, the lapse in concentration in those 11 minutes did the damage. Jon Wilson scored from the spot on 81 minutes after Kane Lewis had been tripped inside the box. Subs involved were Carlo Bandiera and Jon Wilson. A debut for new boy Mitch Kerry too. Unused sub was Josh Hodson. Man of the match was split between the Nathans Garratt and Ratcliffe. Both put a shift in, as did everyone else. We move on to next week's game away to Sandwell Action.
