This afternoon's away league fixture to Shere Punjab ended in a 3-1 defeat for Claregate. A disappointing performance from Claregate with no imaginaion, no creativity and a far cry from the football we know and expect to play.

SP opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a goal which at the time was against the run of play but finished well. Claregate pulled level on 27 minutes when Nathan Ratcliffe found space on the right to deliver a pin point cross to the far post where Kyle Matthews was able to head down and back across the keeper inside the far post. Scores were level at half time.

SP were awarded a harsh penalty on 72 minutes that was converted into the top corner and SP then added a 3rd on 75 minutes following a counter attack. The game turned sour in the aftermath of the goal and Carlo Bandiera was shown a straight red card for violent conduct. With Claregate down to 10 men, the 2 goal deficit was just too much to overturn.

Credit to Shere Punjab who fully deserved their win but a poor show from Claregate. Much improvement needed ahead of next week's game.

Man of the match went to Marc Thomas. Subs involved were Rodney "Trotter" Williams on for Jon Wilson at HT and Josh Hodson on for John Goodwin on 65 mins.
