Home league match played on 18 November 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

This was the second meeting between the two sides this season, the first being a hard fought 3-1 away win for Clenchwarton.

Things didn't start well for the home side.  Alex Havers gave away, what looked to be, an innocuous free kick on the edge of the Clenchwarton area, only for the referee to deem the challenge to have been inside the box.  Penalty to Downham.  Brad Palmer did everything right - made himself look big and moved around to distract the Downham penalty taker.  However, he couldn't prevent the away side from taking the lead on 14 minutes.

Downham kept the lead for another 11 minutes until a Downham defender handballed.  Everyone thought it was a penalty.  Again, the referee looked at the incident differently and awarded a free kick, just outside the left hand side of the Downham goal area.  Kodie stepped up and placed a lovely ball in to the area, which Josh Chilvers confidently headed home to level the score.

Downham tried to get themselves back in the lead with a period of pressure, which the defensive team of Ryan Pell, Robbie Rose, Alex Havers and Josh Chilvers confidently dealt with, although a couple of set-piece chances went begging for the away side with neither side really dealing with the dangerous balls in to the box.

Clenchwarton started to take more control of the game after that and, on the stroke of half time, took a deserved lead after a sublime through ball from Lewis Jeavons found Kodie Turvey, who took one touch to set himself on the run and then made no mistake by smashing the ball past the keeper.

Half Time : 2 - 1

The fitness levels certainly showed in the second half.  Clenchwarton started to look more confortable on the ball and produced some better football to that shown in the lethargic first half.  The home side pressed hard to try and capitalise on their possession advantage and soon extended their lead to 3-1 after the hard working James Winner raced down the right to produce a cross that Kodie slotted past the keeper.

The game was completely killed off with a period of three goals in three minutes.  59 minutes, Josh Murray outfoxed the Downham left back and crossed the ball for Kyle Turvey to tuck away.  60 minutes, and Josh Murray repeated the same move on the defender, to then lay the ball back for Lewis Jeavons to smash home from 25 yards.  62 minutes, and Kodie grabbed his hattrick after James Winner crossed in from the right after loosing his defender.  6-1.

Lewis Jeavons rounded off his Man of the Match performance with a solo effort from 30 yards out.  Lewis saw the Downham keeper off his line and looped the ball over helpless keeper.  7-1.

Jordan Turner received a throw in to feet on the 80th minute.  He turned his defender with some neat footwork and layed the ball to Kodie Turvey, who rounded off a fine display by bagging his fourth goal of the day by smashing the ball in from 25 yards.

Final Score : 8-1

Next week is a huge game for the team against West Winch W.B.  A win would put the team back in the race for the league title.
