Home cup match played on 13 January 2013.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

Clenchwarton sealed their place in to the league cup semi-final by overturning a 1-0 first leg deficit.

From the word go, the boys set about their opposition with purpose, showing the same confidence and determination that had seen off the very good Wisbech Acorns team of last week.

Kodie started the scoring off by confidently placing a penalty kick in to the far bottom left of the West Winch goal, leaving the keeper no chance of reaching it.  This was the result of some neat play that allowed Kodie to shoot from inside the box.  The ball rebounded off a defender to Lewis Jeavons, who then side-stepped his marker and was brought down.  1-0.

From the restart, Lewis Jeavons fouled a West Winch player, 40 yards out.  The resulting shot was superbly hit low at the Clenchwarton goal.  However, Bradley Palmer pulled off a fantastic save to keep the home side in front.

The Oranges kept the pressure on, with strong support at the back from James Winner, Alex Havers and Ed Brown keeping the away side at bay.

Eventually, the home side were rewarded on 36 minutes.  Lewis Jeavons passed the ball in to the centre, where Luke Reid collected.  From there, he pushed towards goal, holding off the challenges of two defenders, and smashing the ball in to the bottom right with his weaker left foot. 2-0.

Clenchwarton were looking comfortable.  The wing play from Kyle Turvey and Lewis Jeavons kept Winch on their toes, and consistantly produced balls for the strikers to chase.

38 minutes, and Luke Reid managed to get another shot off.  Again, the ball rebounded off a defender, falling kindly to Jordan Turner.  Jordan lashed the ball, only to see it go just wide of the post.

The last minute of the first half saw another foul given away to the away side.  Bradley managed to get a hand to the ball and then smother it.

Half Time : 2-0 (agg 2-1)

Clenchwarton maintained the momentum of the first half.  On 42 minutes, Kodie Turvey played Josh Murray in on goal.  Josh placed the ball past the oncoming keeper, only to see the ball go agonisingly wide.

A minute later, and West Winch found themselves with yet another free kick, just outside the Clenchwarton area.  Again, Bradley was up to the task and pulled off yet another brilliant save.

48 minutes, and the front two of Kodie and Josh linked up well again.  Kodie slid the ball across the box to Josh, who hit the ball first time with his left, only to see the West Winch keeper tip his effort over the bar.  Corner.  Kodie lobbed the ball in to the box and Karl Brown headed just over the bar.

4 minutes later, Jordan slid the ball through for Kodie to run on to.  The resulting shot looked good.  However, the keeper just managed to get a toe to the ball and knock it round the post.

57 minutes, and Kodie, Josh and Jordan linked up well to produce a fine team move.  Kodie got hold of the ball and crossed it from the left to Josh.  Josh then teed up Jordan, who unfortunately shot just wide.

61 minute, and the game looked like it was put to bed.  Kodie knocked the ball in to the heart of the area from a corner.  Luke Reid was on hand to header the ball goalwards.  It came back to him off the bar, and this time, made no mistake by smashing the ball home. 3-0.

7 minutes later, and Josh Murray got in on the act by latching on to a delightful lob over the West Winch defence from Kodie.  Josh ran on and smashed the ball home.  4-0.

Before the end of the game, Kodie had another couple of chances to extend the lead.  Josh Murray crossed the ball in to Kodie, who then managed to get his shot off, forcing the West Winch keeper to produce a wonderful save.  Moments later, Josh Chilvers made a superb run from midfield, eventually earning the home side a free kick just outside the Winch area.  Kodie stepped up and unfortunately hit the ball just wide.

Winch battled to the end, only to see there efforts thwarted by Ryan Pell and Robbie Rose, who ensured Bradley Palmer remained well protected to the final whistle.

Full Time 4-0 (agg 4-1)

A fantastic team effort again.  Confidence is starting to show, and with the tough run in coming up, and a date with Discovery in the Semi-final, it's going to be needed.
