Home friendly match played on 16 August 2019.
Kicked off at 7:30 PM

With the season 3 weeks away, The reserves had there first proper pre season friendly against Killymoon Rangers.

With no proper referee ( Mickey Leek stepped in to save the game ????????) both teams started out very cautiously by checking each other out.

After 10 mins big Gaz Adams had to be replaced due to a hamstring injury and on came David Millar to replace him.

After 15 mins Caleb Robb was sent down the right wing and had a chance for a first time cross but opted to cut back on his left foot for a shot that finished high and wide with Philly and Drew waiting in the middle.

CYFC were really starting to play out from the back well and were creating some chances but were unlucky with few offside decisions by the ref on big Philly and Drew.

On 20 mins Drew Kelly made it 1-0 as he stepped up for a free kick and he duly despatched it to the keepers right and gave the Killymoon keeper no chance with a rasping shot that's hit the back of the net like a rocket. CYF 1-0 Killymoon.

The defence were being marshalled excellently by Rian Mullan and also Dean, David and Cameron had the killymoon strikers under complete control and you could see the backline working together as they have been working on this in training.

James Kilpatrick and Nando Silva were winning the midfield battle and were pushing the reserves forward at all times into spaces.

That's how the first half finished. The reserves then made a couple of changes with Matty Kelly coming on for David Millar and Kieffer Scott coming on James Kilpatrick who had an excellent first half alongside Nando.

The second half started off as the first did abit cautious but the reserves gave themselves abit of breathing space when Kieffer Scott got his 1st of the nite after Caleb Robb found space and drove forward on the left and squared the ball into the box for Kieffer to put it away on 50 mins to make it 2-0. CYFC 2-0 Killymoon.

Then things turned badly for 10 mins as Killymoon came out like rockets after the restart and they had a goal back within 10 mins of the restart. A corner taken by former CYFC player Ryan O Neill was perfect for the Killymoon winger to head into the back of the net uncontested at the back post. CYFC 2-1 Killymoon.

This pushed Killymoon up a gear again and after 68mins Killymoon well level after a defensive mistake by the Keeper and Matty Kelly when he was closed down very quickly and the striker tucked it away for the equaliser. CYFC 2-2 Killymoon.

This worked for CYFC as they now knew they could lose the game. Great work again on the left flank this time by Piotr Gabrysiak saw him go past 2 men and loop the ball into the box where Drew Kelly was on hand to make it 3-2 with a fine header at the back post. CYFC - 2 Killymoon.

CYFC made a couple of changes with Ross McKenzie and Ryan Dobson on for Rian Mullan and Caleb Robb.

Kieffer Scott then took the game by the scruff of the neck and after 80mins had his 2nd of the nite to make the game safe for CYFC at 4-2. His 2nd goal was the pick of the nite as he gave his marker 10-12mtrs of a head start and beat the Killymoon defender to the ball and then buried into the net. CYFC 4-2 Killymoon.

This was the best of the last 20 mins as both teams cancelled each other out.

The Game ended CYFC 4 - 2 Killymoon.

A good start to the friendlies and hopefully with training we will get better as the season goes on.

Man Of The Match - Rian Mullan.
