Home league match played on 01 October 2016.
Kicked off at 2:30 PM

The game started at a high pace with both teams getting stuck in. Bugbrooke had most of the ball during the opening period and played some tidy football up to the final third, but they struggled to break through a well organized Pegasus backline. Pegasus couldnt get any rhythm going and each time the ball was won, possession was quickly lost. In the 20th minute Pegasus went on a counter attack, Sinky received the ball out on the right wing and played a precise through ball to Thomo who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball in to make it 1-0. Straight after, Bugbrooke again dominated the possession but continued to fail to create any clear cut chances. In the 35th minute Sinky found himself out on the left hand side this time and sent a perfect cross in the 18 yard box which met Andy Silley who slid in and caught it on the volley, putting it into an empty net. A great worked goal. Bugbrooke stuck to their game plan by playing clever football but the stubbornness of the whole Pegasus team kept the score at 2-0 going into Half Time.

Second half started with both teams stepping it up a gear. Bugbrooke pressed forward a further 10 yards looking for a goal, which left some space for Pegasus to exploit. This made it an interesting game as Pegasus soaked up the ongoing pressure from Bugbrooke and used the flanks well in the counter attacks. For 15 minutes there wasnt many opportunites created, but the football on show was a great standard. Scott McBlain replaced Gareth McBlain at right back 60 minutes in to freshen things up defensively. This proved to be a wise change, as the majority of Bugbrooke's attacks were coming down their left side. In the 75 minute, Jonny sent a long range accurate pass to Sinky who found himself through on goal with just the keeper to beat. With his back to goal, 20 yards out, Sinky caught the ball with a volley as he turned which lobbed the huge Bugbrooke keeper to make it 3-0. A quality piece of individual skill. Further changes were then made, Picey and Sinky were replaced with Hammell and Scott Brady who both went out wide and the formation became a 4-5-1 to help soak up the Bugbrooke pressure yet again. Pegasus continued to graft hard off the ball shutting out everything Bugbrooke could throw at them and the match ended 3-0.

Credit to Bugbrooke, their style of play was neat and tidy, by far the best footballing side Pegasus have played this season. Unfortunately for them, they lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Im sure they went away from the game very disappointed.

On the flip side, a huge defensive performance from Pegasus. Clean sheets have proved very difficult to come by in this league, but to keep one against a top side will only breed confidence to the lads. Every player covered a hell of a lot of ground today and the hard work deserved the 3 points. It was pleasing to see the clinical side of our game with the few chances we created.

MOM was a three horse race and was tough to choose. Credit has to go to Sinky for his 2 assists and excellent goal. Daniel McBlain was a powerhouse on the left hand side and bombed forward at every chance he had. But Mark Mitchell wins it this week. Back in the team after a few weeks out and from minute one he was a unit at the back. A proper 'roll up your sleeves and get stuck in' defensive performance.

Roll on next week when we travel away to Grange Park.
