BSS Portsmouth Youth U13 G 1 vs 7 Corfe Mullen United Girls

A long journey in the rain found us at a surprisingly bright Portsmouth ground by the sea! Although the pitch needed a mow, it was in great condition and flat, perfect for football.

As predicted by the coaches during warm up, overall it was a slightly lacklustre performance, not up to Paul's exacting standards. The girls worked hard, the defence in particular, successfully dealing with a fast, strong and talented Centre forward. Whether it was the pitch or frequent changes in personnel, we were reluctant to play our quick shorter passing game and went long and straight with our passes too often. A tendency to keep hold of the ball too long also! We never got out of 3rd gear but still managed a convincing 7-1victory, which is a positive. Along with a player of the match performance from Sophie. Nice to see the goals shared out again and players willing to play in different positions. A couple of good saves from Millie in the second half stopped what could have been a nervous last 20mins. Onto next week and a tough Cup away day at Andover, I'm sure we'll rise to the challenge! Great support again from the sidelines, I'm sure the girls really appreciate it???
