League

30th October 2010

Today’s game wasn’t for the feint hearted, we were poor in the first half, we were poor in possession and we were poor collaboratively. We missed any collective team play or spirit until the second half, when we showed 10 good minuets of play and in all honesty we were far worse than the four nil score we so luckily got away with, in the first half.

It could be said two of the opposition’s goal were dubiously offside but when it goes wrong so do the decisions sometimes and I feel it couldn’t have gone much worse than it did. We surrendered our undefeated league status at the first signs of any difficulty and now need to rebuild quickly for the upcoming cup game next week.

We had two bookings in the second half and both of them were fully justified, Kemp nearly damaging the right full back with a full blooded two foot tackle and Mike E for not keeping his mouth shut. We need to learn that frustration needs to be taken away from our game or we’ll suffer immensely.

There was a couple of positives Shane’s blistering shot into the top corner in the second half had me smiling and Frosty dispatched a well taken pen to keep his run of goals going. People can also point to the free kick that smacked the crossbar or the saves the keeper had to make but in general we need to put this one behind us and start over.

If the managers had changed 11 men at half time I think it would have been justified but to our credit we all had a word in the break and when we returned we didn’t look second best in the second half. The truth will show they still scored twice after the break but one of the goals was an unbelievable free kick, the other a mistake leading to our keeper being exposed yet again. We created far more and looked a shade like the team we have been for the opening part of the season.

Going forward we need to fix the small loss of focus and man up so we can prove we can play with the big boys, we also need to be prepared from the start of the game rather than watching teams get the advantage over us because we were not ready.

It’s the first game I can remember where I have to say I can’t even name a Man of the Match because no one deserved it. Lets face it lads the only way is up from here, our lesson has been learned.
