Home league match played on 10 January 2015.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Cathedral returned from the Christmas break with a home game against BEC. The wind was gusting from left to right and after winning the toss captain IJ chose to shoot against the wind first half. The team line up seen cathedral with no keeper available so Macca voulenteerd to stand between the sticks.

The game started tentatively with the first real effort coming from Raj after 20 minutes, shooting wide from 25 yards. The midfield battle was proving hard with the wind against us as BEC appeared to be picking up all the 2nd balls. After 30 minutes Raj picked the ball up from deep, crossed low but Ian sliding in just could not get a touch to make it 1-0. Ian had another chance just after, cutting in from the left but his placed shot was carried wide by the wind. Macca was switched on and did well to punch efforts from BEC out of the danger zone as the wind made the ball swing in the air.

Then BEC took the lead after cathedral failed to win the second ball again and allowed too much space for the midfield, the shot was well placed in to the top corner. Dan quinny was tenacious in midfield again and was booked towards the end of the first half after a late, but not dangerous tackle. This looked set to be the half time score and with the wind second half, all was not lost, however in stoppage time, macca punched the ball out of the danger zone, straight to raj who carried the ball forward then threaded a pin point pass to Ian, who took it round the defender and then from outside the areas chipped it perfectly over the keeper in to the top corner, 1-1 half time.

The second half seen Demsey, who didn't start as he is not fully fit, replace Sam up top. With the wind dropping but still favouring the second half, cathedral had sustained pressure for the first 10 minutes of the second half. The wind meant it was cathedrals turn to win all the battles in the middle and were picking up all the second balls. Demsey's fresh legs and direct play was causing problems for BEC and he came close of a few occasions. The game appeared like it was only going to go one way but cathedral failed to make there pressure count. Ted and quinny came close with efforts before muzzy Picked up the ball outside the effort and crashed a shot off the bar. The ball bounced down on the line (the officials stating not over the line) and back in the air, Ian competed for the ball with the keeper and the ball bounced kindly to Demsey who stroked it into the net. BEC were claiming a foul on the keeper to no avail. A few minutes later muzzy found Ian at the edge of the box who cut in on his right and placed the ball in the far corner.

Cathedral were then awarded a indirect free kick inside the area, gaz took it laying it back to Ian, but the ball was over hit and Ian couldn't wrap his foot around it. Cathedral had a few more chances to enhance the score line but the keeper was in the way to keep the score line down. A great team performance.
