On Saturday 13 September 2025, Dorkinians U14 Flames hosted Reigate Priory Youth U14 Buzzards at Priory School Dorking in a league fixture kicking off at 11:00am. The 70-minute contest ended in a 1-1 stalemate, with both sides sharing the spoils after an evenly matched encounter.
Dorkinians lined up in a 3-4-3 formation, deploying three defenders at the back to provide solidity and width. Joshua Cowx took up the right defender role, Logan Townrow operated centrally in defence, while Finn Selby covered the left defensive flank. The midfield quartet consisted of Oliver Emery on the right, Farley Mctigue and Finley Cragg occupying the central midfield positions, and Jasper Morris on the left. Upfront, the attacking trio featured Ted Singleton on the right forward, Leo Palmer as the central striker, and Flynn Foster on the left forward position. This setup was designed to balance defensive resilience with attacking fluidity, expecting the midfielders to link play and the forwards to press high and create goal-scoring opportunities. No substitutes were named for this fixture.
The match burst into life early on when Dorkinians took the lead in the 8th minute. Farley Mctigue found space in midfield and delivered a precise short pass into the penalty area, where Leo Palmer was perfectly positioned. Palmer controlled the ball expertly before slotting home from close range with his right foot, giving the home side an early advantage.
Despite the early goal, the game remained competitive and tightly contested, with both teams probing for openings. The Dorkinians’ defensive trio, led by Logan Townrow centrally, worked diligently to repel Reigate Priory’s advances, while the midfield pairing of Mctigue and Cragg sought to maintain possession and dictate the tempo. Jasper Morris and Oliver Emery provided width and support on the flanks, linking up with the forwards to test the opposition’s backline.
As the first half progressed, chances were limited and the teams went into the break with Dorkinians holding their slender 1-0 lead at the 35-minute mark.
The second half saw Reigate Priory Youth U14 Buzzards grow into the game and apply increased pressure on the Dorkinians defence. Their persistence paid off in the 62nd minute when they found an equaliser, cancelling out Palmer’s early strike. The goal shifted momentum, forcing Dorkinians to respond and push forward in search of a winner.
Throughout the remainder of the match, Dorkinians’ goalkeeper Henry Cramer was called into action repeatedly, making several crucial saves to keep his team in the contest. His commanding presence and sharp reflexes earned him the accolade of Player of the Match, as he denied Reigate Priory numerous attempts on goal.
Despite Dorkinians’ efforts to regain the lead, the match concluded at 1-1 after the full 70 minutes plus added time. Both sides shared points in a hard-fought league encounter, with Dorkinians showing promise in attack but ultimately unable to hold on to their early advantage.
