Home cup match played on 10 August 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Not a good start to the Adamson Cup. After a terrific pre season, winning all 5 games, Dundee Thistle were never in this game. First 10 minutes, neither team could string a pass together. 5 minutes in and Scott Gardiner had to be replaced with a sore back by Daniel feeney, then 5 minutes later Peter Mclean was replaced after a bad knee clash by Liam Connor. This meant no subsitutes left on the bench and the team had to be reshaped. The first chance fell to Thomson when Duncan done well down the left wing to take on the full back then lay it off but Thomson miss timed his shot and hit fresh air. Whilst Liam was warming up to come on, Hawkhill attacked down the left and swung an early cross in, Feeney raised a hand and handball was giving. Hawkhills captain stood up and slotted. 1-0 Hawkhill. Henderson who had been moved up front created a chance outside the box but his shot went wide. A long throw from the right seemed to be goal bound when Henderson jumped high but headed straight in to the goalkeepers hands. A long ball was then played from the goalkeeper and was brought down on the left, a poor cross caused Marshall bother and hesitated in his 6 yard box giving Hawkhill and easy header. 2-0. Minutes later Marshall recieved a throw in from Mclachlan and hesitates again losing possesion in his own area and recovers to give away a corner. Corner comes to nothing and the ref blows for half time. Second half and Dundee Thistle started to look the better team in the early stages but still not taking full control. Mclachlan played some good combination passing up the line but only to run the ball out for a goal kick. Henderson had an effort from 25 yards out after a freekick was awarded, but again it goes wide. Another dangerous throw in, Thomson flicked it goal ward but was cleared off the line. A few minutes later and again it's Mclachlan who gets forward well, this time laying the ball off to Thomson who hits wide. Soon later the best chance of the game starts from a move in the middle with Henderson scruffing a long shot only to land at Duncans feet who looks sure to score, but the defender does enough to put him off and he puts it over the bar. Dundee Thistle will regret not burrying their chances as Hawkhill started to get back in to the game, scoring a lovely lob but ruled offside. They then get the ball out wide right, play a one two and are through one on one, Marshall excently saves with his foot at his near post. Hawkhill then have another shot which goes narrowly over the bar. Thomson then manages to break from a defensive error from the goal kick and turns quickly but again, hits his shot wide of the mark. Nearing the end of the game now and Hawkhill manage to open up the defence with a good pass, Marshall saves the first but Smith has to clean up on the rebound. Thistle take a quick throw as a Hawkhill player goes down injured off the pitch and Connor dribbles half the pitch but his shot was soft and the keeper deals with ease. Hawkhill started to put pressure on and had a shot deflected wide, took a quick corner and swing it in, bad defending lets them get a shot away but it goes high and wide. Hawkhills pacey winger then ran down the right and played a perfect ball in to the six yard box to nod home but the striker hits the bar. The last Dundee Thistle chance falls to Henderson who again misses the target. This is when Hawkhill score the final goal to kill the game. The pacey right winger plays a low cross which travels across the 6 yard box unchallenged to be knocked back in for a tap in. 3-0. With that goal, the heads went down and there was enough time for another which Hawkhill tried going one on one but Marshall was out quickly to tackle two players and clear the ball for safety.
