Home cup match played on 27 September 2014.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

The management team decided to give a start to some of the players who are normally start the game on the subs bench. Each one of these players gave there best and played very well today.

The game started pretty even with both teams having some half chances but after about 10 minutes eagle started to dominate play. The football was good and crisp and we had a threat with the pace up from with Daz Hayes and the two wingers Liam and Josh getting down the sides.

We also had a great partnership in the middle of the park Lad and Dad Urey duo with Tom Duffy. Not forgetting the old boys in defence me in goals and Chris the general at the centre of defence with Mcgahon Nay on the right and Mike on the left. The 4-5-1 formation worked well for us as we took control of the game and should have scored a couple of goals early on. Manweb still created a few problems but the defence played well .

The deadlock was broken on 20 minutes when the Manweb midfield broke down the right to whip a ball into the box it fell kindly for the opponents and as the player was being closed down he slid it to his team make to slide home into an empty net 1-0 down. This spurred Eagle on and we prevented Manweb to a few chances but created many goal scoring opportunities ourselves that we were unable to take. The first half ended 1-0 down

2 Changes at half time brought Sam and Will on this gave us a little more forward penetration and with the midfield playing so well Tom Duffy being outstanding winning the ball then releasing players in forward areas was a pleasure to watch. Eagle got there reward when Sam chased down a hopeful ball to take it off the defender only to be brought down in the box penalty up stepped Tom Duffy and slots it home cool as you like 1 -1.

This gave eagle lots of confidence and we continued to press and created lots of chances again unable to turn the quality play into a goal. Manweb were kept at bay with some great defending and reduced to strikes from outside the box. Sam continued to cause problems for the manweb defence and got a free kick on the edge of the box Tom Duffy stands over the ball them whipped it over the Wall into the bottom corner great goal 2-1 Eagle.

Manweb fought back and started to press for the equaliser and we were a little fortunate when the striker created a great chance and pushed the ball wide. As Manweb pressed they left gaps at the back and eagle exploited them but some poor finishing we couldn’t score we should have been 3-1 up when Mcgohan got to the by-line and dragged the ball back for Sam to slide home only for it to be disallowed for offside With about 10 minutes from the end Daz hayes slides across to sam and he curled it around the keeper 3-1 Eagle. We stayed focused and held firm till the end as Manweb tried everything to get back in the game. Final score 3-1 Win

Well Done Gents another very good performance we played some great football battled hard when we needed too the communication was good we kept possession well but as Chris mentioned to be critical we do need to get better in front of goal as we should have won this game by 5 maybe 6
