Firstly congratulations to the boys of their first 3 points ??

That was an incredibly tense and scrappy game. If I’m honest I think a draw would of been a fair result but I will ?? take the Win and the confidence I hope it brings to the lads

I don’t think we were at our free flowing best but what we got was a gritty, committed effort which you wouldn’t normally associate with our lads.

The other team are very direct and physical and I think they did a great job of stopping us playing our game.

We for the second week running didn’t press or compete with the same intensity of training and again found ourselves guilty of not moving the ball quickly enough. I’d like to see us release the ball quicker and move but all minor details

The start of the game was even but we invited lots of pressure defending lots of corners and long balls. For their goal we didn’t clear our lines quickly enough and their best player pounced

We started to get more of a foothold in the game around 20 mins and Jacob pounced from a goal kick and a nice quick pass to Alex saw us go into half time level

Message in the shed was the same as last week…press and move it faster (noticing a pattern here ??)

Second half we dominated for long periods, Alex hit the inside of the post and us getting to the byline constantly but not being able to find the final pass/cross

Alex hit the post again and after Jawads follow up was blocked he steered it home

7 mins later it was 3, Jack chased a overhit corner kept it in (although later admitted to me it went out of play ??) played it back to James who hit a lovely long ball for that man Alex to run onto and show super composure to make it 3-1

That should have seen us kick on but we seemed to give a lot of free kicks away today centre field for handballs and the girl they have threw herself on the deck. Think Bobby misjudged it in the wind and it was 3-2

We rode our luck a bit then, their number 10 went close a couple of times and more free kicks and corners put us under pressure. Congrats to the defence in battling away getting us over the line

We looked good on the counter but again struggled on the final play to clinch it

All in all a hard fought win but not good for the old ticker.

Couple of the lads who have been fantastic pre season were off it today…think the occasion got to then but we will learn and grow together…I was nervous and intense too and as usual too hard on my lad

Parents player went to Alex who was clinical and back to his best after a settling performance last week he was lethal today

Coaches went to James who is back to his best. Vocal, strong and never hides. Cleared two off the line, bodied the annoying girl, didn’t rise to her comments and missed a bloody sitter ??

Most improved we chose Bobby, I know the reaction wasn’t great for the card but how he reacted to adversity today was really encouraging sorting himself out and focussed. He’s trained well all summer and last years Bobby would have folded.
