Home friendly match played on 12 October 2013.
Kicked off at 3:00 PM

Trying to find the entrance to the pitch proved to be a bigger
challenge than the game itself. The opponents were late as they went
to a different place but when they finally arrived, we had probably
tired ourselves out with the pre-game routine.

I believe the team talk has begun to sound like a broken recorder.
Shape, communication and pass to feet. Reference was made to the
previous week where a great team effort crafted a win for us. Reminder
to work hard for the team was made. A first was also created when a
NEW Captain armband was introduced and handed proudly to a surprised
Kee. A vice captain was also named to ensure that, because of our
rotation, someone will still be there to lead and this was Yew Boon.

Starting lineup.

Sherman

Daryl Kee Roger Jerome

Poh Jeff Andy Harold Henry

Yew Boon

From the start, it was evident that we were the better team. We
managed to get an early goal when a long throw from Daryl found Harold
who headed in. Then a corner from Poh was headed in by Yew Boon to
make it 2-0 within 15 mins. We controlled the game well and made it
3-0 when Colin beat the keeper at the near post. Yew Boon and Colin
added one more each to make it 5-0 to end the first half. We were so
well on top in the first half. Harold had so many shots that didnt hit
the target. Colin did too. The defence was really worked and Sherman
was getting bored.

Half time talk was a reminder not to let yourselves down. We were in a
similar situation before when we were 4-0 up in our previous game and
this time, we cannot make the same mistake and have to keep the
intensity up.

We did and promptly added another one when Yew Boon headed in from
another Poh corner. The battle seems to be on between Colin and Yew
Boon to see who can score more. Colin added 2 more to the game when he
was put through. We had so many chances that I really cannot list them
all down. Henry had a chance. Poh was through and shot straight at the
keeper. Harold commented that we could even win the game with 10 men.
With due respect to the opponent, they tried hard, but we were
definitely the better side. Final score 8-0 and a clean sheet. Wow.

Good performance all round but some sloppy passing still exist. Maybe
it was complacency or tiredness, but I feel that we can try to keep
possession better. The defence did well when asked to. Sherman made
saves when called upon. Jiunn did well when asked to play centre back.
Jason put in his usual hard running after some months out. Yiong
contributed as well but was guilty of simulation. Pui. Both strikers
took their chances well. Poh had a couple of assists.

In such a game, it is really tough to single out an individual who
made the difference. But for this week, MOM goes to the guy who scored
4 goals. Well done, Colin.

See you guys next week. It is getting tougher to be in this role.
