Frome Athletic Under 14s welcomed recently promoted Chippenham Town Youth FC U14 White to Writhlington Sport Centre on 14 September 2025 in the first game of the season. The hosts took out their frustrations on the visitors following last weeks postponement and produced a dominant display to secure an emphatic 11-2 triumph in this 70-minute contest.

Frome Athletic lined up in a 3-5-1-1 formation, deploying three defenders at the back with Dempsey Matthews on the right, Dylan Turner centrally, and Nikolaj Ostergaard on the left. The midfield was packed with five players: Sullivan Collis on the right wing, Zak Daniels, Max Norris, and Leo Griffin occupying central midfield roles, and Jahmiah Harding on the left flank. Archie Hansford operated just behind the lone striker, Archie Preston, as the attacking midfielder tasked with linking play and creating chances. Between the sticks stood goalkeeper Finlay Patrick. The substitutes were Tyler Oxley and Ethan Oatley both of whom made positive impacts throughout.

The match began with an early shock as Chippenham Town Youth FC took the lead in the fourth minute, catching Frome Athletic off guard. However, the home side responded swiftly. Just three minutes later, Max Norris fired home a goal assisted by Archie Hansford, signalling the start of a relentless offensive onslaught.

Frome Athletic’s Jahmiah Harding doubled the lead in the tenth minute, capitalising on a precise delivery from left defender Nikolaj Ostergaard. The momentum continued as central midfielder Zak Daniels added a third goal a minute later, showcasing the midfield’s potency.

The visitors’ woes deepened when striker Archie Preston found the net in his second debut for the club in the 13th minute, courtesy of a free kick from central defender Dylan Turner with the ball hitting the net following a deflection of the defender. Five minutes on, right midfielder Sullivan Collis also got on the scoresheet, further extending the lead.

Shortly after his goal, Jahmiah Harding was replaced by Tyler Oxley at the 18th minute, with Ethan Oatley coming on for Leo Griffin simultaneously. These early substitutions did little to disrupt Frome Athletic’s rhythm.

Archie Preston struck again in the 25th minute, reinforcing his role as the spearhead of the attack. The visitors were under siege, and in the 32nd minute, substitute Ethan Oatley scored his first goal of the match, assisted by Archie Hansford, who was proving to be a creative force.

Chippenham Town Youth FC managed to pull one back in the 34th minute, but the half closed with Frome Athletic firmly in control at 8-2.

The second half began with further changes as Jahmiah Harding returned to replace Sullivan Collis, and Leo Griffin came back on for Archie Preston at the 36th minute mark. Harding wasted no time making an impact, scoring immediately in the 37th minute to restore the eight-goal cushion.

Tyler Oxley continued to impress, netting another goal in the 43rd minute on debut after a fine assist from Dempsey Matthews from a corner. The attacking midfielder Archie Hansford then converted a penalty early in the second half at 47 minutes, adding to the growing tally.

Frome Athletic made further substitutions with Sullivan Collis returning for Dempsey Matthews in the 51st minute and Archie Preston re-entering the fray for Zak Daniels a minute later. Archie Hansford struck once more in the 60th minute with a fantastic goal from the edge of the area after a pass by Leo Griffin underlining his influence on the game.

The final quarter saw Zak Daniels come back on for Max Norris at 61 minutes, followed by Max Norris replacing Dylan Turner at 67 minutes, ensuring fresh legs maintained the tempo.

Frome Athletic’s dominance was clear throughout, with their fluid 3-5-1-1 formation allowing midfielders and wide players to combine effectively and support the lone striker. The defensive trio provided a solid base, enabling the midfield to press high and create numerous scoring opportunities.

In the end, Frome Athletic Under 14s ran out convincing 11-2 winners, a result that will boost their confidence ahead of the long season ahead. Their clinical finishing and tactical discipline were key factors in dismantling Chippenham Town Youth FC’s resistance at Writhlington Sport Centre.
